Recapped MSI 865 Neo2-V onboard LAN and PCI slots not working yet

    This motherboard :
    http://www.msi.com/product/mb/865PE-...l#/?div=Detail
MSI 865 Neo2 -V was fully reccaped because it was full of plagued capacitors. Before recapping it was unstable or sometimes with no POST, after recapp done now it is rock stable. USB, AGP, onboard audio, SATA, IDE works without problem. Onboard LAN is grayed out in BIOS(you can't enable/disable) and none of PCI slots is working. Can someone point me what can be the problem because I alredy tried different BIOS. I have stable 3.3V on PCI slots. Maybe ICH5 part is fried and there is no possibility to reapir it ? Anyone to suggest me something..

What caps did you use, brand and series, where did you buy them?
Which ones did you replace? Photos of the actual board and recap would be helpful to many here.
High res and close-ups where needed are a must! Photos of your solder work can also be helpful.

No, this would never be a BIOS issue. Unless it were an issue of corrupted NVRAM settings, which a simple cmos clear will fix. Although using the jumper is, well... mediocre at best! I short the terminals of the battery, which I remove, with a paperclip overnight, or at least 30m-1hr, preferably an hr to be safe on the minimum. Jumper stays in normal position for this.
But I myself have never seen the entire PCI bus conk out from a BIOS/CMOS issue in nearly 20yrs of professional PC repair and IT work. And I have seen many a head scratcher! But I have learned to never discount or underestimate ways in which things can fail or go wrong. If the bus worked before the recap, then It's definitely an issue with that and the above info will be needed to further help you.

Recapping is good, so problem is not with big electrolytes, I replaced all of them. Problem is that all PCI slots and onboard LAN is not working, same as before. Problem is on some other part, maybe LAN died and is shorting some signal to PCI slots, or some mosfet. My question is what else to check when I have 3.3V on PCI slots, but some signal is missing? Maybe southbridge is broken internally ?

Re: Recapped MSI 865 Neo2-V onboard LAN and PCI slots not working yet

So was it doing this before you recapped it?

Again, having photos would help a ton!
Plus, it'd sure be nice to know the answers to some of my initial questions. I know you say the caps are good that you replaced the old ones with, but these are the cap experts here and it helps us to know what you're working with. Also, there are a lot of fakes out there.

Lastly, I'm not even remotely an expert at diagnosing circuits so I really can't help on that level as I'm still learning myself. But I do know enough to help out where I can.

I would say, let us know what sort of testing you have done so far with the likes of tracing out the current flow on the PCI bus, along with the results of your testing.

No caps behind inductors, probably only good replacement is same manufacturer, same serie, and same capacitance...

And yes, yor problems are still related to bad caps, or bad soldering...

Lenovo Ideapad 3 15IIL05 working perfectly with onboard RAM but it doesn't start when I add a memory into the RAM slot
            by szepesif
            Hey guys!

I don't know the solution to this problem, but this is definitely not unique and I would like to figure out the solution to fix these in the future.

I have two identical Lenovo Ideapad 3 15IIL05 laptops with integrated 4GB DDR4 memory. Both work perfectly with that. BUT... if I add any extra memory to the single RAM slot, it never gives a picture. I thought the RAM slot pins would be the problem but no, all pins are solid (I checked them under the microscope). The RAM in the slot has 1.2V, so the voltage is present on the module. I flashed the latest BIOS, so

Dell Optiplex 5050 SFF - strange behavior and service_mode jumper not working anymore
            by MMH3
            Hello,

i have many 5050sff. all of them, and how i experienced over many years for all about 250 DELLs goin through my hands, are fully flashable and can be serviced in any way when the service_mode jumper is set.
Never ever i experienced problems with that.

Now i have one 5050sff machine, where this jumper isnt working at all.
I do not get the normal messge that the jumper is set when booting and a short test with FPT just confirms this. Everything is locked -->> EVEN for reading !?

The history of the machine is that i used it in my office...

GIGABYTE X299 AORUS ULTRA GAMING - SATA PORTS 4-7 NOT WORKING ???
            by DynaxSC
            Hi,

I have the above mentioned bord after repair, which was related to a lot of missing smd devices on the back of the board.
There were almost 20 devices missing, caps, resistors and some diodes/mosfets.
The board is generally working now, all PCIe ports are working, Windows installs normally.

However I have a problem with SATA ports 4-7 (the board has 8 SATA ports) - disks are not beeing recognized by the BIOS neither by Windows (which is usually normal in case BIOS does not recognize them).
The SATA 4-7 driver network is quite simple chipset<->buffers/drivers<->SATA...

Macbook Air 2020 (a2179) - touch id not working
            by obelix24
Hi i have one Macbook Air 2020 where touch ID is not working (it's not scanning fingerprints). Touch ID was working before, there is no error message during scanning fingerprint it's just not scanning on screen you can see only fingerprint but there are no red updates as when it's working. Power button is working fine.

I've checked boardview and also schematics but i'm not able to find anything related to TouchID ... i have similar issue on a2338 where there was problem with PP3V0_TOUCHID and after replacing UT610 it was working but here i'm not able to find anything related to...

what i went through dealing with my mobo with dead onboard sound!
            by ChaosLegionnaire
so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!! what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!

i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...
