    ASUS P5AD2-E Premium

    Hi all,
I have a situation with this ASUS P5AD2-E Premium Revision 1.05,

The board did not power up, thinking it could possibly be a switch problem; I plug in my external test switch to the board to no avail. It does power on the board LED indicating that there is power but no fan spin up.

Took off the OEM Intel CPU fan and found 5 4v 680uf caps near CPU with corrosion on top but no bulging; they appear to have no vents on top. Also, the dreaded KZG capacitors, again with corrosion but, no bulging.
Could they cause no power up condition?

    KGZ on a "Premium Board".

Have you checked with another PSU?

      Re: ASUS P5AD2-E Premium

Have tried with 3 different PSU's with different power configurations. But only the same thing the board LED powers on but it does not start. I Don't know if it has to do with those capacitors or a problem with the power ON circuit, but have not found any broken trace or burnt component near the power header (connector).

A friend of mine has the same situation with an asus board of a different model it only starts after multiple power button hit (40+ times). But this one does not.
