Re: Dell XPS8500
Will do take into consideration the SB heatsink and will look at the cpu bga area. The cpu is an i7 but have not look at the cpu generation. It is lga 1155 I think could be 6th....

Re: Dell XPS8500
KZG Caps replaced, system booted with any issues but restarted to finish installation of hardware but, back came the two beep POST, since these new motherboards don't use NB could being integrated on the CPU, Could the CPU be going bad?

Re: Dell XPS8500
Today took off the motherboard to do a recap but something is off. A 6.3v 1000uF KZG. Could be a typo on the label or a batch of fakes.
I cannot find the value on the data sheet for this series type...

Re: Dell XPS8500
My bad I read it wrong it is KZG.
The exact same board as being work on should I replace all or only a selected few, relates to the series....

Dell XPS8500
Hi All and Happy New Year
I friend left his Dell PC at home to check out a boot, POST problem
Does anyone know of any known issues with capacitors on a Dell XPS 8500 motherboard capacitors?
I took a look at them and they are KGZ series. I ask about as this unit is not booting properly and is always giving memory errors, installing a brand new memory module did nothing and it posted properly at will with its original memory set.
A search produced no results. Oh and it is a 2012 model.
Thnk You.

Re: CyberPower 1500AVR - Repair
Another update
Some of the parts has already arrived but while the Viper gets here. I have thoughts about the epoxy. I have loctite heavy duty epoxy but it does not work because it holds up 120 degrees Fahrenheit and not 94v - 0.
Looking at possible alternatives I found on Loctite has a hysol epoxy but it does not come in syringes it only comes in bulk. Master Bond also has epoxy for various uses but being unable to find who sells them and it does come in syringes, and the pigmentation is in dark colors not in off-White like the board....

Re: CyberPower 1500AVR - Repair
That post do contains valuable data, it's like that glue is timed failure in case the capacitors don't do just that. Another tip well learned, thanks.
Will continue the clean up and remove that Q4 and test it out, but there is a high chance it will be replaced too once off....

Re: CyberPower 1500AVR - Repair
Today's update
Started the PCB cleanup process with a small dremel drum sand paper to remove most of the carbon. Later finished using a very small tipped dremel tool to clean most of the carbon on one of the ic leg hole. It did exposed a little bit of the trace underneath but was not torn.
Also was able to identify the diode that was "charred" it turn out to be a rl207 diode.
About to make a digikey order for some parts finally.
Keep you updated....

Re: CyberPower 1500AVR - Repair
Yes, luckily I was able to read "Viper22A". STMicro discontinued the one that has been removed but the substitute for is "Viper22A-E". I have been reading datasheets to try to determine what has been enhanced. But I think overall it will work with the circuit....

Re: CyberPower 1350AVR - Repair
By looking at this PCB material, I don't think would be too good to use "white spirit" (aka Mineral Spirits"). I could try in a piece I have very similar to the one I working on.
All related components where removed and tested a F4 fuse found blown, C1 a 22uF 50v capacitor is way out of specs it gave a reading of 2.5uF@120hz the cause of damage.
The rest was reading good but the surrounding components will be replaced as they where too close to the damaged area and are inexpensive.
There is one...

CyberPower 1500AVR - Repair
My CyberPower 1500AVR endured after a long power instability in the past weeks, must have been on the way out. (about 7-9 years)The batteries no longer held a charge nor the UPS were charging them. Batteries are about a year old, but they are good and holding charge from an external SLA charger.
I found thread 785895 and it helped determining what components were damaged.
On this unit the charger circuit just got overheated to and extent I could not see was components where what....

Re: CyberPower 1350AVR - Repair
I must thanks plasticrelic for opening this thread and the rest of you guys for supplying such useful information.
I have a CP1500AVR about 8 years old and like this better than the new version. Also good to see that the main board are nearly identical since mine got a burnout on what I could now see from the OP pictures is a resistor near the viper. The capacitor is no good also I think it caused this issue.
I think the board is fixable since no trace is torn off.

Re: Motherboard schematics archive?
Desktop board schematics are very hard to find, been looking for an ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 for very long time to no luck.
BTW awesome work here....

Re: P6T won't start when EATX12V is connected
That is one ugly FET, by the way it died looks like a bad PSU caused that.
Anyways, Test them all thoroughly, and try to have same or better specs MosFet.
Now to remove the fet start slow, preheat the area you will be working on; as you can see the board itself is a heatsink for the mosfet. Heat on both sides at about 160-180C. Do for about 3-5 minutes.
Increase temperature to about 250C moving the air heat gun (never keep in one spot). Add a small amount of rosin flux or clean flux, it will...

Re: LG Flatron E2050T Backlight
Did some heat re-flow to some of the components on the Driver side of the board as I saw a questionable joint on the MOSFET; Left the caps as they where because the one I already have though they are almost the same specs the where a bit too tall.

LG Flatron E2050T Backlight
Hi Forum Members:
As of this writing I'm trying to figure out a back-light problem on a Flatron, apparently it is time for this model to also fail on LED Driver (back-light).
This model board is stupidly simple, so simple I was in awe about its size and design.
First the monitor when cold would work for about 5 minutes before starting to dim and then after dimming it flickers like crazy. Letting it warm up does nothing but to keep flickering, even after a soft reset (off/on/off/on) or hard reset (unplugging) does nothing to solve the issue.
