    MS-6312 Bad Caps

Hi, I am new to badcaps.net but I've already found it a great source of information!

I have a MS-6312 board from a Gateway 300s that is several (five?) years old that just stopped working one day. After trying a new power supply (and the board still not booting up), I happened upon badcaps.net and thought this forum might hold the answer.

I think I have two bad capacitors on the board (see red arrows in the image), which are labelled Lelon, RXA 105°C, L136(M). I'm new to everything, but I'd still like to try to replace the caps myself considering I have nothing to lose if I break something. With that in mind, I am uncertain how the cap labels translate to other info. I've seen in the forum(s) such as Capacitor Value (3300uF, 2200, etc), Voltage (6.3v, 10, 16) and Diameter (although I believe the two caps are 10 mm in diameter).

Can anyone translate the Lelon labeling into information that I might be able to use to buy new capacitors at a local electronics store?

Thanks in advance for your help!

    Re: MS-6312 Bad Caps

    What happened to the image?

Seriously, AFAIK all capacitors are at least marked with their inherent values (though not always their make/brand), Lelon aren't exactly a popular brand either

Additionally, general purpose capacitors (such as those sourced from electronics stores) aren't the best suited to motherboard/PSU applications

BTW there's a thread found HERE that deals specifically with the MS-6312 platform

      Re: MS-6312 Bad Caps

Thanks for the reply Tazwegion, looking at the other side of the capacitor next to the stripe, I found the capacitor info. (1500uF, 10v)! Had to pull out a magnifying glass, but it was there all along!

Also, thanks for the link to the MS-6312 thread, I'll check it out again armed with the capacitor info.

Sorry about the image, it comes in on two out of three browsers that I use, but I'll keep in mind to preview any posts in the future to make sure it works.

      Thanks again for your help!
