    Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe

Hello to everybody on this forum. i received this board from a buddy who said he couldn't get it to post. Iv got it to post but when i load all 4 ram slots up with ram it does not post. but a single stick it will post just fine. also when trying to install windows it is extremely slow and it will eventually just freeze up. These are the caps on the board. None appear to be bulging though.
    5 1500uf 6.3v KZG
    6 1000uf 16v Rubycon MBZ
22 820uf 6.3v OST RLX(not sure what series this is)
    2 470uf 16v KZG

Will replacing these caps mabye make the board stable? Thanks for any help. If you need a picture i will try to post one.

    Re: Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe

KZG capacitors are known to failwithout bloating.
The OST are crap too. (RLX is the series, OST is the manufacturer).
The Rubycon caps are high quality; do not bother replacing them.

Keep in mind this motherboard has a "faulty" nVidia chipset... that may or may not be causing any of your issues.

No it doesn't. The nForce 4 was the last good chipset. Remember, this board is a s939. It's only sAM2, 775 and possibly some AM3 chipstes that were affected. What usually goes wrong with these boards is that the chipset fan quits which cooks the chipset (or they just get the ASDS/ Asus Sudden Death Syndrome).
I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

            5 1500uf 6.3v KZG
            6 1000uf 16v Rubycon MBZ
22 820uf 6.3v OST RLX(not sure what series this is)
            2 470uf 16v KZG
Leave the 16V 1000uF Rubycon MBZ. Replace everything else.

The 6.3V 1500 KZG, 6.3V 820uF RLX and 16V 470 KZG are all 8mm and should be replaced with equivalents. Rubycon MBZ/MCZ, Sanyo WG, Nichicon HM/HN and Samxon GD/GC are all good replacements and these boards work great once they're re-capped. Again, make sure to get 8mm caps.

You better be proficient at soldering. The lead holes are very small so there's always a risk of ripping off the pads if you don't have the proper technique/equipment (It can be done with cheap equipment if you have good technique).

Once again they scrammed [sic]. Once again they screamed for us to come save them. Sadat woke me up in the middle of the night twice over the phone, 'Save me!' He demanded to send Soviet troops, and immediately! No! We are not going to fight for them."

What's the problem? You do so from DOS. I beieve asus uses aflash or something like that. Hook up an old floppy drive and make a boot disk from Windows. Get rid of some of the unecessary stuff on the boot disk so that you'll have rom for aflash and the bios file. Flash away.

IF you want, I can look up an SLIC 2.0 Bios for you. I'm almost certain there's one floating around.

If you don't have a floppy, get the ISO image of FreeDOS from here: http://www.freedos.org/freedos/files/

Add the bios image plus the dos aplication to the ISO image using PowerISO or any other freeware/shareware.

Then, burn a CD/DVD image, boot from computer from CD/DVD and flash the bios.
