    MSI MS-6351

Motherboard is from the MSI slim PC series. Have had 20 die due to bad caps, though MSI covered them under the 2 year replacement. Newer boards used in these systems have firewire ports, and we haven't had any of those go. So far, none of the replacements have gone bad, but they haven't been in service that long.

More info- all of the bad caps are Lelon Capacitors, who, on the forementioned website, proudly state "Lelon Electronics Corporation never use LIENYAN electrolyte P-50 and P51 in any LELON's products.". Fat lot of good it does them, too!

Also, the newer boards with firewire are starting to go, too. I'll be RMAing 6 more of the 6351s today.

i have come to the conclusion that any low esr caps not made by a well known japanese mfr are junk.
and that mobo mfrs know this and hope they will hold up till just out of warrenty.
i bet on cheapie boards most folks dont even bother with rma.

              Re: MSI MS-6351

Hey, Guess what! Here's another update. I got one of these machines in to recap... It's got Lelon crap all over, but a row of Rubycon's right by the CPU. Confuses me a little, but whatever. The three in the front corner I replaced with Samxon 2200uf 10v and the rest I replaced with Panasonic FM 1000uf 6.3v

              Pics-

I wonder how much this'll fetch on eBay? Celeron 1.2ghz (skt 370), 256mb SDRAM, 20gb HD, floppy and CDROM. Mobo supports two PCI slots on a riser, and 2x each of firewire and USB...
