MSI GTX-980ti shorted MOSFET on memory rail

    Hi All,
I have this MSI GTX-980ti Gaming Golden Edition. It had shorted mosfet on memory. Replaced the shorted i.e. Q47 PK616BA with 4C09N and the card ran fine for a month. Then suddenly again the same problem. This time when i replace it 4C09N or with replacement PK616BA (Aliexpress) it gets shorted. As soon as turn on the PC the PSU shuts down and the same mosfet Q47 gets short.
What should be the next step. Kindly guide.
The board view files for this gpu is available and attached. https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?p=1237952

      Thanks for quick response.

      That would be U8 ?
The markings on it are hardly readable.

      "08 2F
      227"

What should i look / search for ?

Thanks again ktmmotocross for quick reply.
I am not an expert. Looked through the file and found the relevant section on page 30.

The U8 seems to be either RT8809 or APW8700, looking at the pinout on datasheets and boardviewer file it seems like APW8700 is the correct replacement as RT8809 has a bit different pinout.
Is it ok to get APW8700 ? also is there anyway to check whether the culprit really is the PWM controller IC ?

            Update:
Sorry as i am noob and was not fully looking into the matter. Q48 was also shorted, now replaced both. Had display. Will reapply thermal paste and check the card thoroughly. Thanks again for help.
BTW can anyone explain what is doubler? which portion is it ?

              update:
started pc and wanted to go to safe mode to get DDU but dooring boot the same thing. PC shut down. It was short lived. What could be the problem ? why are only those fets getting blown ?. Which confirm later if one or both are blow. Q47 Q48

VGA MOSfet permanently shorted and loss of MOSfet pad
                  by Nooy
Hello everyone, I recently found this badcaps site and super Learn Electronics Repair youtube channel. And I wanted to learn how to troubleshoot power supplies and VGA cards and how to practice soldering, since I already have a properly defective piece of them. I am currently trying to solve two problems:

I have a Gigabyte GV-RX460WF2OC-4GD type card. I managed to find the faulty MOSfet (AON6414A) on it, which I replaced. The card starts up, but after about half a minute, the MOSfet in the same position will be shorted again. Is it possible that the PWM controller driving the MOSfet...

memory mod for amd radeon r7 260x
                  by kokodin
Hello, for almost a year i been trying to make something that seems impossible, or my testing software is lying to me and it works only i can't see that.
I been trying to mod a memory on radeon hd7790 or 260x from 2 to 4 gb, but it doesn't seems to be as simple as i first thought.
In theory 2 workstation graphic cards using the same graphical processor have 4gb of memory firepro w4300 has 4 256x32b layout and W5100 has 8x 128x16b layout all use gddr5 memory and internals of the bioses seems to be very similar so i was trying to wing it , but so far it seems either tserver can't show...

                  Alienware M18x Shorted CPU Mosfet
                  by chestercc
I've got an old Alienware M18x R1 which shorted out the charger whenever it was connected. Tracked down the short to two shorted caps and burned CPU power controller caused by a shorted mosfet on the CPU's graphic power supply.

I've replaced the faulty mosfet, two shorted caps and the CPU Power controller (NCP6151S52MNR2G).

Issue is now whilst there is no short if I attempt to power the system on the fans spin for a couple seconds there are no lights and no further action - the PCH is heating up but there is no CPU power coming out but there is an enable signal...
