Any idea what happened (wifi acted up)

    I have 2 access points, one a U6-LR and WZR-300HP running DD-WRT v3.0-r28444 (has had stable wifi since 2015)

and i am trying to work on my PICO W and it suddenly would not connect and my computer had a very hard time connecting and my dad had been complained about his phone connecting

so i ran a wifi scan script on the pico and it just hang for several seconds and found nothing, normally it would spit out every AP in under a second (both of mine and some neighbors)

What i did was just install a U6-Lite that i had not gotten around to installing to replace the WZR300HP

any idea what happened, was the old router just jamming up wifi somehow?

wifi, BT and several other things share the same rough frequencies - i'm surprised stuff doesnt get jammed a lot more often.

also, wifi modules/chips do burn out from heat over time.
when i used to hammer the local airwaves doing "exploration" i could kill a wifi dongle in a matter of months!

If it is connected with internet, maybe automatic update firmware is go bad.
Can you connect to device to check last update?

same fw i installed the week it came out in 2015, affected all clients, some more resilient than others

the only thing i guess is the router's wifi failed in some horrible manor, i just turned the wireless off on it, now it is just acting as a 5 port gigabit switch

I suggest trying another adapter before anything else .

have not opened it, IIRC it has security torx screws, i do have a ifixit manta kit so i should have whatever it is, but the hardware is still in service on switch duty, for all i know the wall wort is degrading and can no longer handle the power demand for wifi

multiple clients were affected (all of them) it is not a adapter issue

I would also recommend checking the capacitors in the router and the power supply as well I have had this issue several times in the past and if you do not find anything wrong with this ( using an ESR meter to check the capacitors ) then your router is just going bad and it time for a new one
