I have a Acer AL1916 lcd monitor with a strange problem. when I turn the monitor on the screen looks washed out, if I go in to the factory settings and reset the coulor in the eprom the screen is ok, I can turn the monitor off and on as many times as I like and it's still ok. The problem is as soon as I remove the power cable and leave it a couple of mins, then when I try it the screen is all washed out again, so I have to go in to the factory setting and reset the eprom.

by Radio FoxI'm repairing an Acer AL1916 monitor PSU at the moment. The 400v high voltage smoothing capacitor C114 is measuring completely O/C. The case of U101 has blown apart. Fuse F101 has blown. ZD121 reads 6 Ohms in both directions & ZD120 reads 99 Ohms in both directions. While looking at the data sheet of U101 (DM0565R), I noticed that the absolute maximum voltage for Vcc is 20v. However, the zener diode across the Vcc pin to GND is a 1N4748A (22v).
Now, whether that zener is used to constantly regulate the voltage, or whether its's used to protect the Vcc voltage from rising too high,...1 Photo-

by maralexbarI ask this question in general as there are many Acer Aspire models with UEFI Insyde BIOS that do not boot to the BIOS on an external monitor (VGA, HDMI, etc) showing only the Internal LCD (LVDS, eDP etc).
It's a pain to work on Acer notebooks with a broken screen and not being able to access the BIOS using an external monitor.
If anyone knows how to force the external monitor as primary for Notebooks of those models11-02-2024, 09:18 AM -
