Re: Dell 2209wa - momentarily blinks every two seconds [ Video + Audio + Service Manu

Thanks, and thanks for the answer.

No, I don't expect anyone here to educate me on things that are easily looked up, but it sounded like something useful to know for future repairs. I've done two here so far, so a third is probably on the horizon. I just find RMS inherently hard to intuit, but I think I found what was missing for me to do it now that I've looked it up.

Since I've tried to stay away from AC and line voltages in order to keep this hobby alive (i.e. me) I've also never reflected on that they're expressed in V RMS. So it was basically 230/0.707, assuming a sine wave. And that's presumably the peak amplitude then. That makes sense.

I thought I'd compile a list of steps that I should have taken to find the fault as quickly as possible. Maybe it'll help someone like me:

    1. The problem didn't appear immediately after a cold start → probably overheating.
    2. Open it up, power it on, wait for the problem to appear and then blow on one PCB at a time with a fan until the problem goes away.
    3. When you've isolated the faulty PCB, blow on a single component at a time (I used a tube made from a rolled up sheet of paper), and/or drop alcohol on them, until you know which one it is.
    4. Measure diodes and transistors in the vicinity for shorts. And for blown fuses...that don't look like fuses, aren't called fuses, and don't look blown.

HP EliteBook 850 G8 - Error code / Caps Lock permanently on and blinks twice every 6 seconds
      by Curtissimo
      Hi everyone.

      I have a HP Elitebook 850 G8.
      Serial: 5CG2324XM0
      ProdID 6L8D5EC#ABA
It has a Winbond W25Q256JVEN Chip.

I need to remove BIOS Password.

I made a dump with an CHA341A programmer and NeoProgrammer 2.2.0.10.

      Attached my dump.

I also used the HP Unlocker tool to create an unlocked file (I followed the guidelines)

I also downloaded latest HP BIOS Update (SP158137) which includes 3 .bin files. I found the Number T76 in my original dump, so I used: T76_01210000.bin

      What I did:...

Anker SoundCore 2 Bluetooth Speaker Turns Off After a Few Seconds (Possibly Firmware Issue?)
      by zklgfs
      Hi,

I have an Anker SoundCore 2 (A3105) that I saved from the trash (well, I guess there's a reason why it was supposed to go into the trash...). The problem is that it always turns off after a few seconds (sometimes it stays on a bit longer, between 30 and 60 seconds, but it still turns off). The power light turns on and the bluetooth light starts blinking, but both abruptly turn off again. The "turn off sound" is still played after the lights turn off. Sometimes, it also loops the on-off cycle several times without me pressing any buttons. If I connect an AUX cable, music...

Lenovo Legion 5 high fan spin turns off after 34 seconds
      by twonk9098
      Hi all,

I have a Lenovo Legion 5 with a Ryzen 7 series CPU and RTX 3070 GPU. My issue is that it turns on and all seems fine except after a few seconds the fans spin up high and the laptop turns off after 34 seconds.
I can get into bios and can even boot and login to Windows however after 34 seconds no matter if Im at the bios screen or booted into Windows it will just turn off.

I have managed to run HWmonitor and the temperatures of the CPU and GPU are fine, I can also touch the heatsync which is warm but not hot.

I have tried a few new bios but exactly...

Panasonic P58V11B 8 and 12 blinks error "fix"
      by Biruslapio
Bought this TV used not working, panel flashed briefly on power up and it was blinking 8 times, a quick look on SS board revealed a common fault on the 3uF 250V capacitors, C201 to C205 (C1620X in the service manual), the solder joints were all cracked, C201 and C205 pins were darkened and some sparking had occurred on them, C201 was split open and clearly overheated in its last hours, replaced that one and resoldered the others, 8 blinks fixed.

Also the previous owner broke the antenna connector by taking the TV out of the wall mount forgetting to unplug it, I desoldered the tuner...
