    Benq FP71E/Q7C4 intermittent backlight

The backlight on this Benq FP71E (or Q7C4) sometimes works fine for hours, then suddenly dips in brightness for about a second, followed by the backlight going off completely; other times, upon startup, the Benq logo shows dimly and the backlight cuts out immediately. The screen remains on/does not go into standby. Usually, powering it off and giving it a few good whacks on the backside fixes it (the problem does not get resolved without the whacks), not sure what that could mean. I've taken out the power board and none of the caps look bulged, should I just recap them all? Could there be another issue?

    Caps are:
    - two browns on the northwest side are Elite 1000uF 16V
    - all other browns are Elite 470uF 35V
    - two small black/blue on northeast side are Jamicon 47uF 50V
    - two smaller greens on west side are Lelon 25V 100uF
    - two even smaller greens on west and east side are Lelon 1 uF 50V
    - one green on the east side is Lelon 0.22uF 50V
    - small black/blue near two greens on southeast side is Jamicon 10uF 50V
    - three larger black/blues on southeast side are Jamicon 470uF 16V
    - giant Elite 120uF 450V

Pics here and backside (roughly 1MB each).

    Thanks =)

Noticed some gunk around Q815, Q816 and Q808, Q809 (in between each pair of transformers) on the backside.. seem to be C5707 transistors, could that be an issue as well?

Also, missed the two fatter green Lelon 1000uF 10V at C712 and C709.

The symptoms scream of an intermittent connection, either in the inverter itself or in the wiring to the CCFLs. I'd start by resoldering the transformers in the inverter section, as well as any other points that don't look good.

As far as recapping, speaking euphemistically the present caps have a less than stellar reputation. It is unlikely they are the cause of the problem, so while you have the monitor open it would be a good opportunity to replace them with high quality caps.

For a number of reasons, both health and personal, I will no longer be active on this board. Any PMs asking for assistance will be ignored.

Resoldered most caps, transformers as you said, and the 4 transistors in question (after cleaning the board up a bit with 99% isopropyl alcohol), works fine and consistent now =)

Thanks for the advice, once again. Second monitor you've helped me fix =D

Magnum IA.100 Amplifier Switches on, No Output, Possible Input Side fault?
          by flibidy
I have here a Magnum IA.100 which belongs to my parents.

The unit powers on & when the relay kicks in, you get a pop from the speakers (this might sound weird but is usual behavior for this amp). However, you get nothing coming through it from any of the inputs & no pops and crackls from any of the controls.

Because of the sound from the speaker when the amp turns on I have assumed that the output section probably works but I could be wrong & I'm not sure how to test that side of things further.

Lenovo E15 Nm-c421 usb-c work only in one side
          by bouny56
          Hello

          Laptop E15 I5 10gen
          Mb nm-c421

I have a problem with the usb-c power dc.
The motherboard start only in one side of the usb-c

Replace the usb-c port 2 times same problem

With the usb-c meter, one side 20v ok, other side the usb-c meter don't come on

Try to test the pin with the Mechanic Tail insertion tester and every pin are ok ?

Can the pd controler be the fault ? Or something else maybe ?

          Thx

A2442 MacBook Pro 14" Two Left SIDE USB C ports charge but no data
          by Stephen
Right SIDE usb.c port charges and transfers data without issue, two left side uSB c ports charge but do not receive or see data. Was liquid damaged, and repaired significantly and thought we were in the clear but appears this is the last issue that is rearing its head. I am trying to locate the RETIMER chip that communicates the DATA TX/RX but I cannot seem to find it on the schematic or maybe I am just so tired my eyes wore out lol. Any help would be great.

Xilence XP600 600w ATX PSU - No PWM Controller on primary side - how does it work?
          by dicky96
          Hi guys
I have a faulty Xilence ATX PSU here

The fault basically is I have two short circuit power transistors on the primary side of the large SMPS transformer - they are 2SC3320.

There is another smaller transistor on the primary side C3866 which tests ok

The PSU has three transformers - it looks like the 2SC3320's drive the big one and the C3866 drives one of the small ones. There is a separate PFC PCB with it's own controller and MoSFETS

There is also a short on the 3.3V output and a near short on 5V - I suspect this probably blew...

DELL Latitude 5520 - charging only on one side of usb-c

          DELL Latitude 5520
MB: South Peak 15 MB (DDR4)
Charging only on one side of usb-c on both ports. I have replaced one of the ports but still the same. Checked for short, nothing is getting hot under thermovision. Usb meter is not coming on one side, on the other is coming on and showing 20V.
Any sugesstions where to look for fault?
