    dell monitor black out!!

i was on my desktop working fine before we had a power cut in our flat which shut off all the eletrical socket points. My pc was switched off immediately.

I managed to switch on the main power suppy in our flat. then electricity was back on again. switched on the pc, running okay, i could even hear the windows starting up from my speaker. but my monitor (Dell 1800 FP, 19 inch flat screen, 5 years old) went completly black out. tried to switch on the indicator light, it wouldn't turn on (normally it's green when on). tried other buttons (brightness etc), still no light. It's as if it's been switched off.

spoken to a few friends who suggested me to see whether the fuse's been blown. tested fuse on a reader, absolutely fine. tested the power cable on other applicance and it's working fine.

Also tried to disconnect monitor from pc leaving only the power cable connected to monitor, still the same..it still doesnt respond, no light no signal. When I spoke to Dell support about this, they are telling me that it's not the power suppy - it's the inside of the monitor that doesnt detect the power. They said if connected only to the power and that the monitor is not busted, it should be able to pick up the power supply.. But i wasn't completely convinced cuz he's already trying to sell me a new computer talking about new models and stuff.

other shops told me that it might be the fuse/current inside the monitor that needs a good look at..and I'm also aware that during the last couple of weeks the monitor screen blinked once in a while (say twice during the day, just randomly but very subtle)....the thing is, almost everywhere i rang, im told that it's worth investing a new one than trying to fix it, cost wise..and that they dont know who can take a look at the internal fuse for me..

Can this monitor be saved?? It's an ultrasharp non wide-screen..a similiar one would cost £320 at today's price..

Seeking Advice: Repairing Dell U3425WE Monitor with Faulty USB-C/Thunderbolt Ports
      by Borse2008
      Hi everyone,

Looking for some advice or opinions on what to do with a monitor issue I’ve run into. Apologies in advance is this crossovers a few forum categories.

I have a Dell U3425WE, which I've recently replaced with another model. That said, the original unit is still fully functional in terms of the display — it works perfectly over HDMI and DisplayPort. However, the USB-C and Thunderbolt 4 ports have stopped functioning correctly. The Issue:
      • The 90W Thunderbolt 4 port (circled in the photo) no longer charges or powers any device, including laptops or MacBooks.
      • There’s

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
      by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.
I have tried multiple different Dell power adapters. My Dell...

HannStar Hanns-G HC194d LCD monitor repair
      by momaka
Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...

Issues Reviving Old Dell 2408WFPb Monitor
      by Jesus Coder
      Hello everyone,

I have been having some difficulties reviving an old Dell 2408WFPb PC monitor that I received for free. When I first acquired it, the backlights of the display were on but alas no image was showing. After extensive research on the topic, I went ahead and purchased a new t-con board for the monitor. After installing the board, I was then presented with a new screen that was half black and half green (more so black). I have been unable to figure out what to do next as I have limited knowledge of display electronics. Might anyone on this forum have an idea of what may...

Dell 34 inch U3419W Monitor with thin stripes on partial screen
      by ChristianBr01
      Hello everyone,
I have a Dell U3419W Monitor that has some thin stripes on a part of the screen since Tuesday.
This lines cover about a third of the screen and appear for 2 seconds before disappear for another 2 seconds.
This repeats the whole time. I have not opened the case yet cause I had no time, but will try to fix it on this weekend. For me, it looks like a problem on the TCon... Am I right?
Does someone have seen this before?...
