    SRF10100C 100V 10A Dual Schottky Barrier Power Rectifier

    Anyone knows where to find this part?

    I was thinking of just using two 100V 5A single Schottky diodes.

    What you guys think?

      The electrical specs are close enough. The problem is the mounting tab. The original has an insulated tab, the replacement you want to use has the tab electrically connected to the center lead. Depending on the topology of the heat sink (most are connected to ground), you will have to use an insulating pad (mica or silicone) and an insulated washer.

        Hi Bill,

        Thanks for the replay…
        I had to get this LCD going ASAP so I subbed the SRF10100C (after all, its 2 Schottky diodes in one package). I used 4 SR3100 3A 100V schottky diodes running 2 parallel sets of 6A 100V for each leg. Let's see how long it holds.

          Update, don't think it's going to hold. The diodes may be too slow; I'm getting minor pulses on the screen itself.

            Looks like I made a mistake; just dropped the refresh rate down to 60Hz from 70Hz and the LCD is doing fine.

              I would expect that. It is rare to find a LCD montor that requires more than 3 A on the 5 VDC supply. This would be a short term solution, however. The diode is mounted on a heat sink for a reason.

                I don't believe you can parallel Schottky diodes. Minor differences in switching speed between them are additive.

                  For this reason I get horrible quality on DC waveforms with 3 dual-diode full-wave like that in parallel for 24V supply in one LCD. I think this what blew the chipset because this one oddly used 24V to 2 buck regualators for 5V supplies, where one would use decent seperate supply circuit to pump 12V and 5V direct from SMPS and keep 24V noisy seperate for the backlighting.

                  Stranger things happened. :P

                    So far, it's been on around 24 hours at 60Hz with no noticeable problems.

                    I think the diodes are switching too slow.

                    Can this be why the LCD won't do 70Hz or above?

                      That's right. The Vf changes quickly with temperature so the diode with lower Vf takes more current, it heats up lowering its Vf so taking more current... this goes on until it takes all current and maybe it destroys itself.
                      It is different for diodes like SRF10100C or MBR10H100CT, the junctions are on the same die/body so the Vf is almost the same and if the temperature increase both Vf junctions drop.

                      Another replacement for SRF10100C could be STPS10H100CFP, the body is already insulated.

                        Hi Gianni,

                        The SR3100 I used has the same 0.85 Vf as the SRF10100C. But I do understand what you're saying about the junctions causing resistance. Is the Ir better on the (SR3100 30ma@125c) then the (SRF10100C 10ma@125c)?

                          Ir= reverse current.
                          Low value is better than high value because it causes power dissipation when the diode is reversed polarized (Pwaste=Ir X Vr).
                          Obviously the wasted power increase at higher frequencies.

                          For SRF10100C the 10mA is for one diode, so the total Ir at nominal Vdc and 125ºC is 20mA using both diodes.
