Hello,
I am trying to repair a Dahua NVR4216-4KS2 that is not booting.
The main BIOS/firmware is stored in an SPI flash EEPROM (Winbond 25Q128, labeled as U130 on the PCB).
I have a CH341A programmer and I already attempted the following steps:- Identified the correct chip (W25Q128, 3.3V SPI flash).
- Tried to read the contents with CH341A Programmer software. The dump seems corrupted and I often get the error: “Chip with the contents are in disagreement.”
- Compared several chip type selections (24Cxx and 25Qxx families) to confirm it is indeed a 25 series SPI

Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow.
But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. attached bios was read from the chip but no display and amperage fluctuating from 0.6A to 0.34 and back to 0.6A.

I hope someone can help me.
I have an Asus ROG Strix Scar 18 (G814JZ) laptop with a Winbond 25Q16JWNIG chip on the motherboard.
Unfortunately, I flashed the wrong file (BIOS/EC/other region – I'm honestly not sure anymore), and now the laptop is completely dead: no display, no fan spin, no reaction at all.
I have a CH341A programmer and I'm able to read and write to the chip. However, I'm not sure which software is best (AsProgrammer, NeoProgrammer, etc.) or if there's anything specific I should watch out for.
A valid BIOS/EC backup...
