So I just got this monitor for free, It needed a powerbrick, however, after a short time of operating if the image on the screen is mainly black the screen will shut off then come back on and shut off again progressing to long shut offs each time.
to test this theory I let agar.io run which has a mainly white background, the monitor would stay on with out flicking, the moment I minimized the browser the monitor would shut off and stay off, if i clicked maximise on the web browser with the monitor off, it would magically come back on, the monitor just hates black images for some reason. I have moved it from computer to computer and tried different inputs and the same stuff happens. also when it is on for a long time over 30 mins it will even shut off on white screens.
Right now I have it apart, the input board has some samyoung surface mount caps I was planning to replace, not sure what series but I ordered some panasonic FRs to replace them and hope that will fix it. any advice for this bastard of a p2770fh is much appreciated.

But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though.
