Dell 2408WFPB (Samsung LTM240CS05) display issue

    Hi folks, Greetings from Tennessee

I have a Dell 2408WFPB monitor that is on the fritz with lines and ghosting of images. The whole screen has lines on it when it first powers on and then once it goes to VGA, the page image is there but the lines are there also. I have disassembled the monitor down to the TCON and made sure the ribbon was seated correctly and did a visual on the boards for anything suspicious and it all looks good. I do have a digital multi-meter if anyone thinks that would come in handy for me. Just not sure what the specs are for this type of electronics. I have seen on several thread on this forum that these monitors are known for the TCON to go bad and cause some similar issues. Would that be a good place to start by replacing the TCON or would someone assist me with anything else that may be wrong? The only changes that I can see one the monitor is warmed up is some of the lines clear as more appear and when the VGA is not connected the "no VGA connected" prompt that moves around the screen against a black background has a "ghost" image that follows it around. Thanks for the help.....

Good pictures. I can tell by the blockiness, that it is in fact the TCON board on that model. I'd probably try and find one on eBay or from China. Last time I checked, they were about 35 bucks new. Just put in the exact part number in Google, and it should give you the options of where to find it.

I got some experience with older Samsung S-PVA panels (those 6ms), once it was bad TCon, once it is bad panel. TCons are for a couple bucks these days from Aliexpress, panels are not worth the money.

Seems like it may be the same one or similar. I may have spare panel, but I would like at least 100 dollars for that.

In my case it was a T-Con board. You might find this thread useful.

I bought my board from the seller "mahmoudhassan11". He has one more left. Good luck.

Just out of curiosity... Why the first two of your pictures are the same as mine? I wonder if we bought our monitors from the same source...

I got screwed three times out of three when tried to buy directly from China (Ali and the like).

IMO these people seem to value quick rip-off more than the long term business relationship. Will never deal with them again w/o the iron fist protection of an American business entity as an intermediary (ebay or paypal or both).

This one's a weird one, and still unsolved despite it having gone back to Dell once.

                          Specs

i7-8750H, GTX 1060 Max Q, 500GB SSD & Seagate 7mm 1TB HDD. 17.3 IPS screen. This has the fingerprint reader in the power button.

                          Backstory

I bought this from eBay, from a wallpapering shop. £650 in 2020 which was a good price considering it's a gaming laptop. Physically it's in perfect shape, apart from the hinge mounts on the palmrest failing in the time I've had it (I have a new palmrest for it). The usual thin plastic crap modern build quality!...

Dell Inspiron 3480 All in One corrupt Bios issue: reaches Dell logo and stops
                          by computerbacon79
The Dell Inspiron 3480 I own (the all in one, not the laptop) is not wanting to turn on at all. It goes right to a dell logo, but it stays there forever with no other information on the screen. Holding the automatic Bios repair key combo (ctrl+esc) that should let it read a recovery file off a USB drive gets stuck on a black screen and does nothing. No amount of resetting anything so far has worked, and Dell's own support downloads have not really helped. Ive tried another BIN file I found online using my CH341A, and this got me slightly more, that time it displayed a loading bar that never moved...

                            • When I start the laptop from a cold state, it takes about a minute to reach temps around 80-90-100°C, and CPU thermal throttling triggers.
                            • When the CPU fan is running at full speed (by disconnecting PWM and TACH cables), CPU temperature stays around 50-60°C.

                            • I also noticed a few times that the fan kicked in for a very short time, but it does not stay on consistently.

                          Hi everyone,

I'm working on a Dell G15 5515 (Ryzen 7 5800H, RTX 3050 Ti) and recently installed a compatible 4-zone RGB keyboard and controller (for Dell G15 5510/5511/5515 models). While the keyboard functions for typing, the RGB lighting is not detected by Alienware Command Center (AWCC), which displays “No AlienFX devices found.”

                          What I've Tried So Far:
                          • Reseated the cables.
                          • Reinstalled AWCC and AlienFX services.
                          • Attempted BIOS downgrade but no improvement.
                          • Inspected ribbon cables for damage.
