    LCD Monitor Video Board

My brother gave me an el-cheapo LCD (i'm at work now so dont have the name in front of me). He said the display went out on it so at first I thought it might be backlight or power source. What I found was that the caps on the video board were bulging. After doing some searching on the net I found on another site that someone was having issues with a Rosewill lcd with the same video board being used. I borrowed there picture for here to show the board I have and layout of caps.

The caps on the board are FZ58 470 16v and pretty much all are bulging a little or alot. Are these what I will need to replace the bad caps with? If my link posting doesn't work, it is the 470uF 16v HN 8mm 12mm caps on the mast list. Would you recommend bumping it up to a higher Capacitance or voltage & Capacitance? Also does it matter the style of cap whether it is the solid kind like is on there now or ??

    Thanks

    Re: LCD Monitor Video Board

The bad units are near a DC-DC converter (and most likely to be on the output of the DC-DC converter - these units appear to be Sacon FZ) - I think there should be no problem in using solid polymer units.
My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.

The capacitors with FZ on them look like solid/polymer capacitor, but they're not, they're regular electrolytic capacitors.

Nichicon HN capacitors will work there, other low esr capacitors will also work as long as you have the room (space between pcb and the case, height wise).

These Sacon FZ capacitors are bad, unreliable, you should seriously consider replacing ALL those - i think - 8 capacitors that have FZ written on them.

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

HannStar Hanns-G HC194d LCD monitor repair
        by momaka
Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...

LG OLED77G1PUA - No Video / Audio after a TCON Board change and Software Update
        by Hakuu
        Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

        More Details

Got the same exact TCON board from TVPartsToday and replaced it. But didnt transfer the EPPROM data (didnt...

Looking for help with a Viewsonic VP230mb where the backlight comes on only momentarily
        by lostone
Hello, I came here after finding some similar questions asked on other monitors and hope someone here can help me get an ancient Viewsonic VP230mp (23" 4:3 LCD) back to working condition.

First a little background, I have a background in computer and electrical engineering, and I'm smart enough to know I know nothing about LCD displays and how they work. For this topic I'm as green as they come.
When the display is turned on the viewsonic logo displays in the uppper left for 2 seconds then the screen goes black, the power LED is green (on) and when a computer is connected...

TCL 55S425 few horizontal lines, potential failure on both side of panel/buffer board
        by howardc64
All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
        • TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
        • Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault
