Dell 3007wfp - Wont go into high resolution

    Hi All;

    I have a Dell Ultrasharp 30" monitor, model 3007wfp.

The screen is in great shape and the self test (RGBW shows great pixel performance). Brightness is great, etc.

Problem is I can't get it to go into full resolution mode. It's stuck at 1280x800. Monitor performs well at the lower resolution but of course that doesn't do it for me...

I have tried lots of debug so I think it's the monitor. Any ideas would be welcome.

To summarize my debug efforts; first I'm sure I have a dual link cable and a system capable of displaying 2560x1600. Video card is an ATI 7870HD. The only connector on the monitor is a DVI-D connector.

    I have tried the following:
    1) Running the identical system (computer, video card, cable) with a Dell U3011 (also 30", just the next newest model) and achieving 2560x1600. This tells me my system is capable of doing it and that the cable and video card are capable of that resolution.

    2) Two different DVI-D (dual link) cables.

    3) Both the Dual link DVI port on my video card and both Mini-Display ports.

    4) Three different mini-displayport adapters (ATI certified, Apple and BlueRigger)

    5) Both a PC (as mentioned above) and a MAC pro.

I think I have to tear it apart and go looking.

    Suggestions?

Solved - Dell 3007wfp - Wont go into high resolution

On a hunch, I solved this problem (and pretty quickly).

It turned out to be the video card. I have an XFX HD7870 GHz edition. Incredibly, the card drove my Dell U3011 just fine at high resolutions but will not drive the Dell 3007.

Both 30" Dell monitors, both 2560x1600. No idea why.

I plugged in a HD6670 card and the Dell 3007 monitor worked just fine.

I have a ticket open with XFX but that's the problem.

I was gonna suggest.....that sounds like a GPU issue for sure.

Re: Dell 3007wfp - Wont go into high resolution

Interesting. My case was slightly different.

I had the same exact problem with my Dell 3007wfp. It would refuse to go into the 2560x1600 resolution suggesting instead the 1280x800 (recommended) resolution with 4 different Nvidia cards each of which was perfectly capable of providing the 2560x1600 resolution.

Turned out all of my DVI cables were single link. Connected the monitor via a DVI-D dual link cable and the picture instantly became stable and crisp. Doh. RTFM indeed.

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
          by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.
I have tried multiple different Dell power adapters. My Dell...

Guide me through repairing a Dell p2210f LCD ccfl backlight monitor
          by DanPoka
I bought this p2210f dell monitor to fix. Schematic is the same as p2210.
Behaviour is that monitors comes on but then backlight switches off almost instantly. If I look with flashlight I can still find the "No signal message". So definitely a backlight issue. Trying to advance the issue I proved that the protection circuit is switching off the backlight by shorting out C3 and resistor to disable the INL chip then re enable by removing the short.
This is where it gets interesting. When I disassembled the monitor to solder leads on c3 capacitor I noticed the backlight flickered...

Issues Reviving Old Dell 2408WFPb Monitor
          by Jesus Coder
          Hello everyone,

I have been having some difficulties reviving an old Dell 2408WFPb PC monitor that I received for free. When I first acquired it, the backlights of the display were on but alas no image was showing. After extensive research on the topic, I went ahead and purchased a new t-con board for the monitor. After installing the board, I was then presented with a new screen that was half black and half green (more so black). I have been unable to figure out what to do next as I have limited knowledge of display electronics. Might anyone on this forum have an idea of what may...

Dell 34 inch U3419W Monitor with thin stripes on partial screen
          by ChristianBr01
          Hello everyone,
I have a Dell U3419W Monitor that has some thin stripes on a part of the screen since Tuesday.
This lines cover about a third of the screen and appear for 2 seconds before disappear for another 2 seconds.
This repeats the whole time. I have not opened the case yet cause I had no time, but will try to fix it on this weekend. For me, it looks like a problem on the TCon... Am I right?
Does someone have seen this before?...

          by paparazzo79
          Hi guys.
I got myself used Dell 27" touch monitor but I got scammed again, seller sent HP adapter.
Though voltages are the same, I suppose power supply design is not the same.
So may I use it without any harm to the monitor?...
