Well, I can think of a couple of reason for that behavior:
    - one pin of the ribbon cable went loose (cold solder joints), which are a pain to fix
    - a micro break in the LCD glass that cuts an entire line, or transistor inside the glass that activates the entire line, is dead -- can't be fixed
    - video card artifact - check if the external VGA output port shows the same line
    - the board that converts the analog video signal to digital is broken - diagnosed through elimination

Basically, go to a service and ask them to test your laptop display on another board, and see if the problem persists.

Probably driver chip on panel flex failed -- would need screen swapped.

Panel problem. Usually replace the whole panel.

Could be delamintation of the ribbon cable to the panel. Try gently squeezing around the edges where the line goes to and see if that affects it at all.

Samsung UN50TU8000FXZC shows thin horizontal green line when warm
            by cubytus
            Hi to all,

I was given this TV, an entry-level 4K 50" set. Some have criticized its lack of contrast and relatively poor colour rendering, but for my needs, it's very decent.

I reset everything to factory settings, but this line keeps on fading in and out when watching a streaming channel from the Tizen firmware. Interestingly, it only happens when TV is warm, after about 1h45 of it being turned on.

Watching a movie from an external source doesn't trigger the line as easily (needs 2 hours), and from a normal viewing distance, is hardly noticeable. It...

Samsung LH82QENELGC/EN Help needed - Static line on screen
            by Kiberge
            HI guys!

I've got a Samsung LH82QENELGC/EN with a problem and need some advice and I hope this is the forum to use?
I'm from Norway so I'd like to apology in advance if my description of the fault is kind of simple or the names on the components are way off. 😊

the TV is powering up, working as normally and picture is all good, except a 1.5-inch-wide vertical line of snow/static across the screen.

This TV is a Signage Display/Public Display version and it's been used at my work for 4-5 years showing commercials 24/7. The fault occurred when...

Macbook 2017 with touchbar (A1706) won't turn on after removing the screen
            by Ryan.man
Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

To fix laptop screen vertical line by working on its EDP cable
            by almarhum
Has one here really gone through fixing laptop screen vertical line(s) by repairing/replacing its Embedded DisplayPort (EDP) cable, so would recount and share the complete steps of the process here now?

As most, if not all, believe the laptop screen vertical line(s) caused by defective Embedded DisplayPort (EDP) cable which slipped and passed through either laptop screen hinge but post here is asking help to elaborate definitively the useful, real knowledge of repairing in the most complete, correct way, esp. can decide/determine whether the cable can still be fixed or must be re...
