This LCD Monitor started having problems lately - it would just shut itself off after a short while for no reason, and later, it wouldn't stay on but for a few seconds.
When I disassembled (rather difficult task), I found two bulging caps on the power board (both CapXon 220mF 35v).
Problem #1:
I ordered replacements for all the caps (they are all CapXon) on the power board except for 2: the large cap (120mF, 450v) and a small one (22mF, 50v).
These are the digikey part numbers for the caps I ordered:
(a) 220mF 35v - P13127-ND
(b) 2200mF 10v - P13115-ND
(c) 1000mF 10v - 1189-1072-ND
Are these acceptable for this application, or did I order incorrect ones?
If incorrect, can you please suggest part numbers for proper replacements?
[U]Problem #2[U]:
Both the power board and the "main" board (the one into which the VGA & DVI cords plug) are installed in a "cage" style metal box (shield?) which was inverted and then held onto the back of the LCD panel w/ silver metal tape(?!) along 3 edges of the box. The existing tape was more or less ruined in trying to remove this "box" to get at the power board - is this some sort of special tape (EMI or high heat resistance, etc.), and if so, where would I get some to use to re-assemble the LCD monitor when I complete replacing caps? I'm assuming standard black electrical tape wouldn't hold this "box" on in the high heat on the back of the LCD panel?
This is my first attempt at capacitor replacement, and first post on this forum.
