• Re: Acer x193w LCD monitor - silver metal tape & replacement caps?

Sorry to take so long to get back here. I re-ordered caps w/ better ripple current (all Panasonic FM or FR series). Also, since I had no prior experience w/ this, I "practiced" on an Apex DT-250 digital converter box (success!).

The Acer x193w monitor went well also, though I forgot to take "after" photos before I re-assembled it. It was such a pain to get it back together - no way am I taking it apart to take those photos!

Bottom line - it's done and...

smason & budm -

It just so happens I have some of that metallic duct tape from the last time I hooked up our dryer. Who woulda thunk it would be of use for electronics repair!

Thanks again!

I will post before & after pictures of board & assembly after new caps arrive and I affect the repair. Hopefully, it works like a champ after I'm done and I can declare success.

As for the tape, the problem is that it has essentially lost its "stickiness" because I peeled it off. I don't think it will support the weight of the "box" and the 2 boards when the "used" tape tries to fasten it to the back of the panel. If the tape gives way, the...

• Acer x193w LCD monitor - silver metal tape & replacement caps?

This LCD Monitor started having problems lately - it would just shut itself off after a short while for no reason, and later, it wouldn't stay on but for a few seconds.

When I disassembled (rather difficult task), I found two bulging caps on the power board (both CapXon 220mF 35v).

Problem #1:
I ordered replacements for all the caps (they are all CapXon) on the power board except for 2: the large cap (120mF, 450v) and a small one (22mF, 50v).
These are the digikey part numbers for the caps I ordered:
(a) 220mF 35v - P13127-ND
