Samsung 932MW - Fades to black

    Hi,

I have another monitor which is a 19" HDTV / Monitor that has the fade to black after 2 seconds symptoms.

Caps all look fine, but can someone tell me if my inverter readings are ok?

    D - C = 1198 ohm
    B - A = 956 ohm

    H - G = 0 ohm
    F - E = 618 ohm

I'm not 100% sure I know which is primary or secondary.

Is this enough info to determine if the transformer is working correctly?

    Thanks

    Joe

    Secondary are A to B and C to D
so they do not look good - Some of the solder doesnt look great
and it will need reflowing. Fortunately these are available
so I suggest you remove carefully from the board and re- test.

EDIT -- should be approx 1.2kohms on both so they are well outside the 3% rule but worth testing off board in case of outside influences.

Thanks, I will re-flow the solder now and test again.

Found replacement inverter for £4.90 on eBay with free shipping so hopefully an easy fix!

I have another 22" monitor with a faulty inverter, I couldn't find the same inverter anywhere, Would using one of these ones be fine?

No - at least very unlikely. what is its number or the board number its on.

PLLM-M702A is the board from the 22" screen.

I have reflowed the solder but problem is still happening, I will remove the inverter from the board now.

I removed the inverter, and have retested. I didn't have a solder sucker neither any solder wick, I removed it by slowly prying it off while heating up the terminals.

            A - B = 1145ohm
            C - D = 1247ohm

            E - F = Nothing (just said 1 on the meter)
            G - H = Nothing

When you solder that part back (or replacement), change also those smaller electrolyte capacitors. It is not a big cost. Lack of visible failure signs (leaks) is not guarantee. Huge cap is probably okay, but at some point that can be also checked/changed (it's more costly).

I dont think there is much point soldering it back its around 8-9% adrift.

I will replace both the transformer and the electrolyte caps. Thanks for your help.

I have around 6 monitors I can use for spares that might have a suitable capacitor

Hi JoeyJoe, did this fix your problem? I have a similar issue with same model - already replaced inverter transformer due to out of spec readings.
