    Westinghouse LCM-22W2 backlight issue

    SUMMARY
    ======
    Backlight kicks in for about 2 seconds and there is a buzzing sound coming from the inverter board

    THINGS TESTED
    ==========

    1) Measured steady 161V across the main filter cap with power applied to the monitor, when the power button on the monitor is pressed the voltage drops to around 157 then creeps back up to about 160 and stays there.
    2) The board has not been recapped but I did test all caps in circuit with an ESR meter and they all come back well within the proper limits.
    3) 1 of the mosfets came back with ohm readings indicating it may be shorted but have not taken it out of the circuit to test

    PROBLEM
    ======

    1) Press the power button and the power LED comes and and the backlights kick in for about 2 seconds
    2) A buzzing sound it heard from the inverter board for the 2 seconds that the backlights do stay on.
    QUESTION
    =======
    Does anyone have an idea what might be causing this. Attached are pictures of the inverter board. Also here is the video of the buzzing on the inverter board.

    There are entire discussions (or heated debates) wrt to in circuit ESR testing and the caveats of caps in parallel. Nice ESR meter by the way.

    3) 1 of the mosfets came back with ohm readings indicating it may be shorted but have not taken it out of the circuit to test
    That could be part of the problem.

    2 seconds to black can be

    a) bad caps
    b) bad ccfls
    c) bad ccfl wiring (the top return wire is the usual culprit and could be arcing to the chassis causing the noise)
    d) bad inverter transfomer (secondary windings)
    e) bad transistor/fet

    All explained in great detail starting with post #19 at

    https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=10419

    I would focus on mosfet and bad ccfl wiring as the first two things to check.

    PS. Great format if I do say so myself! Refer to post #21 on the next page of the troubleshooting guide.

    PPS. jetadm123 knows these Delta boards pretty well.

      Which mosfet is the one you think may be shorted?

        Sorry for the late response. I pulled the mosfets and they tested fine. I recapped the board and everything is up and working.

          MacBook Air A2337 (820-02016) USB-C Port Issue – Only Works in One Orientation (CC Line Problem?)
          by rounin
          Hi everyone,

          I'm working on a MacBook Air 2020 (A2337, board 820-02016) and running into a strange USB-C issue. I've gone through quite a bit of testing and part replacement, but I'm stuck — hoping someone here can shed some light.

          🛠 Original Issue
          The machine initially wouldn't negotiate 20V over USB-C — stuck at 5V.
          Diagnosis showed PP1V5_UPC0_LDO_CORE shorted to ground.

          I replaced U3100 (UF400) using a donor board (A2179), and the machine powers on fine now.

          Three 820-01700 32GB Logic Boards Same Issue: Won't Wake From Hibernate
          by ugamazing
          I have three identical-spec 820-01700 boards (2.6/32/512), and ALL THREE boards came to us with the same fault, from different sources: The boards don't wake from hibernation with the keyboard or lid, they ONLY wake when you press the power button. I understand this is a very minor issue, but the boards must be fixed!

          We will of course begin with the obvious (checking lid signals), but I couldn't help but notice these three boards were all 32GB variants. Has anyone noticed an issue relating to these 32GB boards in particular? I of course don't think it's a RAM issue, but it's bizarre...

          L40DIGB20 Logik 40" inverter/backlight issue.
          by Dreadnought
          Hi. Firstly I apologise if I break any forum unwritten rules, as I'm new here. I've used badcaps for advice in the past, but I've only just joined. I'm self taught, so I don't have anywhere near the knowledge that some of you guys have, but I can only hope to keep learning and get there one day.
          Anyway, I've been working on a TV recently. It's the one listed in the title. Logik L40DIGB20. It powers on fine, with the standby light turning blue as it should. The backlight turns on for a second, then goes off. Using a flashlight, I can see an image on the screen. The power supply is fine,...

          Hello guys!
          I have a strange issue with my laptop keyboard and I'm lost trying to detect what's wrong - the KB9028Q-C or the keyboard itself.
          It powers on OK and has no other issues except the following:
          • CAPS LOCK does not work at all
          • Fn button toggles Flight Mode
          • When I press 't' or '5', it produces 't5', and when I press 'y' or '6', it produces 'y6'
          • (with SHIFT pressed: 't%' and 'y^' respectively)
          I initially thought it was a keyboard malfunction (internal short, etc.),
          but when I press and hold...

          Alienware 15 R2 Service Tag: DL7NN32 ISSUE (Battery is not charging)
          by Simone Vergani
          Hello everyone,

          I'm experiencing an issue with my Alienware 15 R2 (Service Tag: DL7NN32). The laptop works perfectly when connected to the AC adapter — it powers on and functions normally. However, the battery does not charge. If I disconnect the DC adapter, the laptop shuts down immediately, as the battery is at 0%. I have replaced the battery with a new compatible one, but the issue persists. I also replaced the AC adapter with a compatible one, but the battery still doesn't charge.

          To assist with troubleshooting, I'm attaching two power circuit schematics:
