Tyris (marked F179, also T701DB) recapped about a year ago (changed out all the Capxons). Lately the whole screen will briefly change color. One transition is to pink, so possibly a tube going out. However, it also sometimes takes on a blue tint. The odd coloring only lasts a couple of seconds in either case.
Do failing tubes ever turn blue instead of pink?
If not, this is a bit reminiscent of a loose RGB connection. Possibly the ribbon cable from the video board to the LCD panel is loose?
This is going to be a bit hard to debug since it only does this erratically, and I have not been able to find a way to make it fail on cue.
