    Repaired a View Sonic VX170 model #10049

I do not have any photo of it as far as the control board or the power board
    right now

    Here what it was doing

The monitor come for two seconds and go off the green led stay ON for two seconds

Here is what I found wrong with this monitor

All the caps that I pull on the power board and one on the control board where at least 10% lower or more that what was on the cap
I use a very good cap tester on that I use air conditioning repairs not a cheep one

I also found two D1804 Transistors short and a .22 cap that was between the transistors open after I had installed the new Transistor had shorted again

I did not have a .22 cap but I had two .15 cap wired them together and it is working this is only .08 over what was call for I am going to have to find one some where I will look for some soon

Now the green stay on and when the computer is off or not hook to the computer it is orange

This monitor and two more where headed to the street for the trash pile the other two are completly DEAD have a post about them right now but no luck with so far

In fact I am using this monitor right now and it work great

I have notice one slite problem with the screen that left side from top to botom has very slite blue ting to it it not real bad but I am NOW going to recap the control board caps as well and this was when the refresh rate was set to 75 Hertz this happening now
that I set it back to 60 Hertz this has gone away

You should REALLY replace the blown capacitor with the proper one. These inverters are touchy under the best of circumstances. No point in changing the frequency.

3:1 odds it's a poly cap. They are available in several styles. Digikey carries them in the dipped style. Pictures are a good thing.

Man, those are some fuzzy pictures. I guess this puts the lie to the aphorism 'A picture is worth a thousand words' because your description of the text tells me everything I need to know.

AV is the manufacturer's logo, .22 is the value (.22uF), J is the tolerance (5%), 160 is the voltage (160 volts). On the other side, R75 is probably a date code, while MKP indicates it is a metalized polypropylene film cap.

Digikey 495-1278-ND is one possible replacement, Mouser 539-171224J160F-F is another.
