    Samsung 245B Problems

Hi all - this is my first post.
Thanks for the great level of detail and patience you guys have with newbies.
    It's really appreciated.

    Anyway - down to business.
I've been snooping around this site for a couple of months trying to figure out the problem I had with a Samsung 245B monitor.

The problem was that the blue power light would come on but the screen would stay completely blank, but the OS was able to correctly identify the monitor and behave as if it was displaying correctly.
Thanks to a couple of threads in this forum I was able to identify that the power board BN44-00173A was probably faulty.
I took a punt and bought a second-hand board on Ebay.

I have just installed it and I can now get an image but it is a real mess. I have attached a photo of the monitor display, along with a screenshot taken with the OS for comparison.

The perfect screenshot suggests the graphics card is OK, so there must still be something wrong with the monitor.

Also, the image was flickering for about 15 minutes but settled down once the monitor had warmed up.

What I was hoping to find out was:
    1. Could the messed up display be a result of a faulty power board, or something else, such as the logic board?
    2. Does the flickering suggest a problem with the new power board (I'd like to know because it came with a 30 day warranty).

    cheers

    Re: Samsung 245B Problems

Hey I've also got one of these monitors I'm trying to repair (I'm also a complete noob so please wait for someone more experienced to contribute!!) but I thought this post seemed very similar to your problem.

Of course I don't want to suggest you go replacing parts at random or I'm sure I'll get in to trouble, but if you hadn't seen this already it might help you out?

Thanks dude, unfortunately it's not just the flickering, the display image itself is a serious mess which has me thinking a power surge might have blown the power supply and logic board. I'm thinking of chucking it but before I do I'm hoping someone with more experience can offer some advice.

ACER BM320 Monitor - Horizonal Flickering Lines After a While
        by reessi
        Hello,

The monitor started off showing flickering thin (1 pixel) lines horizontally every say 3mm..

They are black on the right and gradually fade to nothing on the far left.
They start either after 5 mins or up to 2 hours after so annoying for testing.
They flicker continuously very fast! With a slight pause milli-second every second.

Initially I cleaned the LVDS cable and connected to the T-Con and then it worked fine for 3 weeks but not sure if this was just co-incidence.

I tested each half by removing the first the left flex from...

HannStar Hanns-G HC194d LCD monitor repair
        by momaka
Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...
