HANNS-G turns off after 30 secs.

    Hi all,

I'm new here so go easy!

I have a Hanns-G HG281D display which was working fine untill recently. Now when I turn it on it comes on for a while, 30 secs or so then display turns off, the power light stays on though. If I power down then back up again the display comes on again for a short while the dies again.

Any Ideas? I've attached a few pics.

    Thanks,

    Jase.

Classic example of 'Two Seconds to Black'. The inverter controller is sensing a problem with the backlight system and is shutting down the inverter. Possible problems include bad caps in the power supply or on the inverter, a bad (aged or broken) CCFL, a problem with a transformer, a problem with the wiring to a CCFL, or a problem with the sense circuitry. It's even possible that it is caused by a blown fuse on the inverter.

The usual approach is to examine the caps on the inverter and the power supply for domed tops. If any are found, replace all caps of that brand. The usual next step is to substitute a known good CCFL for each CCFL in the monitor one at a time. Alternatively, check the resistance of the secondaries of each inverter transformer. Resistances should match within 3%. the transformers have 8 pins. The two pins at each end are the secondaries.

HANNSG Hi221 -- 2 secs to black feat. CCFL flicker & "burn" marks on power board
      by ttmi100x
      Greetings everyone,

I have a HANNSG Hi221 monitor that exhibits two seconds to black issues (backlight goes off, display is still on as confirmed by shining a flashlight on it) with some additional oddities...

The monitor failed on me with a standard "2 seconds to black" some time ago prompting me to initially replace most of the electrolytic capacitors (some of them were bulging/leaking).
Things kinda sorta worked for a night, then the problem returned along with some flickering and "buzzing" noises.

      Upon closer inspection...

Acer Nitro 5 LA-L181p power LED turns on by 5 secs (Short on PCH rail?)
      by Victor Moreira Silva
      Hello everyone,

I'm trying to repair my old Acer Nitro 5 (AN517-54-55T5). I've already bought a new laptop, so this is more of a learning project. For the experience, with no high expectations of success.

Well, my decice specs are the following:

      Model: Acer Nitro 5 AN517-54-55T5
      CPU: Intel Core i5-11400H
      GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650
      Motherboard: GH51G LA-L181P Rev:1c

      The symptom:
When pressing the power button, the power LED lights up for about 5 seconds and then turns off. Initially, the issue was intermittent: sometimes...

MacBook Pro 14" M1 Pro Turns on functions then turns off when I plug in USB C cable
      by Stephen
MacBook Pro 14" M1 Pro Turns on functions then turns off when I plug in USB C cable to reset the computer. I disconnect the battery fully and then reconnect it and it won't turn back on. After letting it sit for a day I plug the battery back up, and the MagSafe 3 cable and it powers on and stays ons, once I plug in a USB C cable into the port closes to the MagSafe port it turns off and the Amber light turns off and won't turn on. No water damage, nothing, I want to do a DFU restore to wipe the computer since the customer stated they did an update and ever since it just decided to not work...

inverter H tree driver imbalance in an AC inverter
      by eccerr0r
My cheap crappy 1KW grid tie inverter (GTI) seems to keep blowing IGBTs. When I first got it, it had two failed IGBTs. It used four 60N100's (TO264). I bought 5 from a dubious source (fleabay) and replaced just the two that were dead. The GTI worked for almost two years but recently one of the two that I replaced failed. Since I had three spares, I replaced the dead one. Then a few weeks later it failed again. Weird. Well since I bought dubious China-sourced IGBTs from fleabay it could very well just be a mixture of fakes. I replaced it, but then a day later it failed again! I put in the last...

Samsung LN40C630K1F LCD TV No Backlights and Flashlight Test Fail
      by signal.quest
      Hi all,

I have been working on a Samsung LN40C630K1F LCD TV. On power up the backlights only briefly light up when first powered on then they go out (2 seconds to black). The flashlight test also fails. The sound works fine. Please see attached pics.

I have researched the forums a lot. I have watched the videos of trying to locate the bad CCFL or transformer and bypassing. I can't find any evidence of a bad transformer/CCFL. I verified I get 376V from the big caps to the fuse. I have used a small/cheap oscilloscope and it looks like the MOSFETs on the inverter...
