If it worked fine before you had to change the caps, and now says no signal, the first thing to do is ensure that all plugs etc have been replaced correctly. It is very easy to bend pins, fail to sit them properly etc etc..and it happens regularly, even to very experienced Members. You also need to use the 'manage attachments' facility to show the Photos.

Replace all the caps of whatever brand the bad ones were.
They need to be low ESR caps.
GP caps either won't work or won't last long.

Re: Lite-on R17AA "No Signal Input"

i couldn't find how to edit my first post so i uploaded the pictures to this post.

        Rtech,
the monitor was dead before the recap. only after the recap i got the "no sifnal" message.
i checked all the plugs. tried to pull them out and plug them in again, everything sits fine.
sorry about the pictures, i uploaded them again now.

        PCBONEZ,
the brand of the original caps were capXon so i replaced them with new Radial Electrolytic caps found on eBay
because i heard that capXon made bad caps.
there's a lot of caps, you want me to replace them all?!

        thank you,
        Oren.

In simple terms you replaced known crap with unknown garbage. The best Chinese made caps have a bad reputation for reliability. The ones you used are most likely NOT low ESR. While it's difficult to believe, they could be worse that the Capxon originals (yes, there are caps worse than Capxon).

The general reputation of the caps sold on eBay is not good. The off brands are usually crap, the name brands are often counterfeit.

It is suggested you edit your profile to indicate where you live. That makes it easier to recommend sources for parts. In the US, Digikey is a preferred vendor, offering excellent prices, rapid shipping, and low shipping charges. There shipping charges to other countries range range from High ($6.00 for Canada) to Exorbitant ($30 to Australia) to Outrageous ($120 to Croatia).

Did you hookup a working computer with your favourite wallpaper to the lcd?

No signal will come on if there is no source attached after a few seconds.

The size of the can of those replacements, while not conclusive, is a strong indicator that they have higher ESR and lower Ripple capability than the originals.

And yes, you should replace all the Capxon.
If some are gone the rest aren't far behind.

Capxon makes a lot of different series [models].
Some have very low ESR and some just barely. [Or not at all.]
Will need the series name[s] and diameters [and sometimes length] to actually spec them.

                Heathkit IO-4205 Power Supply Caps
                by eryjus
                Hello,

First, I am a complete noob with high voltage stuff. I'm learning, but I need help by someone looking over my shoulder.

I recently came into posession of a Heathkit IO-4205 5MHz Dual Trace Oscilloscope. The documentation is copyright 1978. I'm told it works.

I opened it up to check the caps before I applied power, and found the following black caps and wanted to know what they were. They are on the power supply board. I was able to read the name and model and came up with, "Nytronics 162J-1, 0.1uF, 20% tolerance, 2000VDC."

820-02020 Super Weird Issue: Keyboard Input Character Map "Wrong"?
                by ugamazing
So, I have a really bizarre issue that I'm struggling to identify the cause of. Working on an 820-02020 board with some bizarre keyboard/input-source character mapping. My suspicion is a possible damaged SPI ROM (U1970), perhaps, but I'm really not sure in this case:

                1. The issue is pretty weird, but when installing MacOS, I noticed my WiFi password did not work. I quickly realized the special characters (!@#$%^& etc) were not mapping correctly.

                2. I noticed the keyboard layout/input-source is defaulting to JAPANESE every single time I restore the board. I am not...

                Anthem MRX500 - no sound

                Dear Electronics Experts:

I have the following problem I am trying to troubleshoot. Unfortunately, I have contacted Anthem themselves and even a local distributer but I am not having much luck. Also, I have scoured the internet and unable to obtain a service manual. The Anthem service rep has also replied that he is unable to provide me with any service documentation. I have performed numerous searches on the internet and cross-referenced a few other AV receiver makers (Denon, Marantz, Onkyo) and found certain similarities to block diagram...

Help with switching power supply caps
                by captain150
I'm trying to repair two old VCRs, they both have bad caps. One has leaky ones, the other would barely run until I subbed in some caps from another power supply I had laying around (though they are the wrong values). This vcr works for an hour or two, but then the power supply starts whining and the picture gets lines in it. I didn't replace all the secondary caps, so another voltage might still be problematic, or the values I used are too far off.
I've been on mouser and digikey but the options are a bit overwhelming. I just need some new ones that will work. They don't need to be top quality,...

                Gigabyte GA-6OXT :: caps question
                by Foetuss
                Good evening

I recently aquired a rev 1.1 Gigabyte 60XT, and was suprised of the amount of leaking caps for a motherboard of the P3 era. Especially the way the 330µf caps seems like the housing discolored even.
Now, there are some 3300µF 6.3V KZG series around the CPU. Would it be OK to replace them with something like EEUFR1A332 ? (Panasonic FR 3300µF 10V). Or was this board designed around very low ESR caps?

But I was also suprised about the bigger boys, which are 330µF 25V.
Could it be they used 25V caps because they were cheaper / available at that time?...
