ok. Good thing i have an arcade isolation transformer handy heh. Does the monitor or the scope need to be hooked up to the iso?

The monitor. Remember that the hot ground - the negative side of the bridge rectifier, the negative lead of the large cap, and the ground pin of the SMPS controller swings from -165 volts to 0 volts 60 times a second. Adjusting the sweep and sensitivity switches while the scope frame is swinging down to -165 volts would be uncomfortable - but educational.
