    HP L190 monitor

Did some searching on this monitor and noticed that there were some differences in boards. I noticed mine was different. I would like to apologize in advance for all the questions. I am definitely a newbie. I got two dead monitors and wanted to learn a new Hobie. Been reading your site for a couple weeks and decided to dive in.

    C855~25v~470uF~CapXon~Bulging
    C9~25v~470uF~CapXon

These all looked fine. Not sure what should get replaced?

    C869~50v~470uF~Teapo
    C854~450v~100uF~Su'scon

These are all really small caps?

    C419~16v~47uF~Su'scon
    C803~16v~47uF~Su'scon

I was thinking of just replacing the CapXon caps.
Wasn't sure if I should be looking at replacing anything else? I didn't see a fuse anywhere on the board.

Replace all the caps on power board side except the largest one which rarely, but not never, fails.

Members here like Panasonic FR, FM, and FC (in that order). If you live in the USA, you can follow PlainBill's instructions on how to order from digikey.com

Su'scon doesn't have the greatest reputation, but they are on the logic side of the board and don't get as much stress as the power (SMPS side). I would leave them in there.

If you are new to this forum, we can help a lot more if you please post clear focused pictures (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) of your boards using the manage attachments button so they are hosted here. Information and picture clarity compositions should look like this post.

We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.

Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.

Draw a line down from the 100uF, 450V Su'scon. Replace everything to the right of that (with the possible exception of the 100uF, 450V). To the left of the line I'd strongly consider replacing the cap next to the toroidal inductor, that and the IC on the heat sink are probably a buck regulator, so the cap could be seeing fairly high surge currents. As far as the 47uF, 16V caps, I wouldn't bother.

Your fuse is just below the AC plug. It is the red circle thing covered in glue. A good fuse should read less than 1.0 ohms.

Thanks RetiredCaps and PlainBill for all your help!!! I have been learning tons. So the buck regulator is used to lower the DC volatage used on the logic side of the board. Just making sure I read this right. I should replace the IC's on the heat sinks? Or just the Cap that is next to them. I noticed a couple IC's connected to heat sinks.

Sorry, rereading my post, I was unclear. I was suggesting that every electrolytic cap to the right of that line should be replaced.

Been there, done that, didn't get a tee shirt but learned to mark the connectors. Seriously, it doesn't matter; the CCFLs are all identical.
