Acer AL1714 need to on/off several times to start!!

MY acer AL1714 need to switch on/off several times before it shows acer logo and starting good. When cold start, it just flicks and black screen.

    Any idea?
(i will post pictures later, searching for a 2nd display before opening up the unit!!)

All the 1714's i have come across have been 19v dc input via power supply.
Check this first , other problems have been the transformers giving up and also the bulbs getting old (these are a strange shape like a 3/4 oblong)

If it is the Inverter, and you cannot repair it ,I MAY have one...so my spares list says anyway.

1.- What about the power led? Ons and off or constantly on?
          Might be the lamps

            1. - Power led constantly on, display works after i turn on/off the power switch (not the power button on unit but the wall on/off switch).

            2. - Cut and no more.

Caps or a bad lamp. Open unit and post some pics.

Re: Acer AL1714 need to on/off several times to start!!

I had the same problem with a Acer AL1711 and it was bad caps 2 1000uf and 2 470uf located above a nice hot heatsink.

Replacing all 4 caps sovled the problem.

AL1711 used the same external power adapter as AL1714? I will open up the unit later today. Wish me luck!
