    Searching Replacement Capacitors

    Hi,

I am recapping my monitor mainboard and have been searching Digi-Key for the Panasonic FM & FC series caps, as per recommendations posted in another thread somewhere on this forum.

But I'm running into 0 search results for some of the caps I need, and I'd like to know what the next best series and/or manufacturer would be to look for. So many series and I have no idea what it all means... I'm so confused!!

    I need the following caps:

    (11) 10uf 16v
    (3) 100uf 16v (short)
    (2) 100uf 16v (tall)
    (3) 470uf 16v

    Thanks!
    Steve

The FAQ has the information in the thread 'Which Caps Should I Buy'. A word of warning on that list, contrary to real life, the further to the right you go, the better (lower ESR) the cap.

Add Panasonic FR to the list. It is supposed to be equivalent to Panasonic FM.

Replacement caps for Samson Resolv studio monitor 65A Amp board.
          by black6host
          Good day!

I have a Samson Resolv studio monitor that has no sound output. I've opened it up and found two caps that are bulging on what I believe to be the power supply section of the amplifier board. The board is marked Resolv 65A AMP V1.2. The caps in question are YUSCON, 2200uF, 35V, 85C temp and have markings of RA(P) and are 16mm x 25.5mm tall. I've attached the schematic and the caps in question are C5 and C6. I'm assuming they are low esr caps. I've tested both caps and they test low uF, nowhere near 2200uF.

I'm going to replace the caps and I'll be the first...

Replacement for the Siemens Bakelite caps in an early 1980s SMPS
          by rewease
          Hi everyone,

There actually was a time when early SMPS and late bakelite housed electrolytic caps coexisted in high end industrial gear. A friend of mine just got himself a CNC milling machine form that time with its first set of now 41 year old caps still installed in the PSU... and it's malfunctioning.

Two of the caps have already leaked slightly onto the board. I have not desoldered or measured any so far but they should qualify for replacement.

Now I'm wondering what to put in there as a replacement. First idea was state of the art low-ESR Nippon KY,...

ASUS P5A and P2B-S recapping. Searching old datasheets.
          by P4C800
          Hi,

I'd like to recap some of my old mainboards (they are from 1998) before switching them on again for the first time after many years in storage. All caps still look good from the outside.
          There are three mainboards:
          - ASUS P5A rev 1.04
          - ASUS P2B-S rev 1.03 "Rubycon"
          - ASUS P2B-S rev 1.03 "Chemi-Con"

If you are interested in their specs, The Retro Web has pages for the P5A and the P2B-S.

They all have many 1000uF 6.3V 105°C capacitors. But there are some differences I cannot figure out.

Assistance with identifying replacement caps on ASUS P5VDZ-MX
          by crosswinds
          Hello,

So, pulled a motherboard out from storage, was working when put away, wont post when I took it out of storage today.
Since it was working, and it looks to be essentially time that killed it I figured its a good idea to replace the caps before digging further.
Looks to be only good quality caps on this board, so might not be the issue. But it is closing in on 20 years now so, wont hurt i guess

          Its a ASUS P5VDZ-MX board.

I would really appreciate some assistance on what the best replacement caps would be for these:

          Panasonic(M)...

Replacement caps ok? (smoothing caps, PSU heating controller)
          by HectoPascal
          Hallo,
i want to replace two smoothing caps from a heating controller PSU. They are probably 30 years old and it might be time to replace them.

          SXE 470uF 63V 105°C (tested: 472uF 0.35Ohm) --> Nichicon VY 105°C - 463uF 0.15Ohm
          SXE 470uF 25V 105°C (tested: 422uF 0.63Ohm) --> Samwha K5A 85°C - 446uF 0.10Ohm (or Panasonic RAD FC 470/25 8mm)

I couldn't find anything about 'SXE'. That's the only declaration on the caps. Edit: The top/bottom ident says Nippon CC.
Nichicon should be 'VY' series (linked).
I couldn't find anything about Samwha...
