Hello all, I've read a lot of the forums regarding 2 seconds to black (including billy66's excellent guide), and I've tried as much of the troubleshooting as my extreme noobness will allow. I have a Hannspree HF237HPB. All was well until a few weeks ago, when it starting turning off within a few seconds of being turned on, while the power light in the corner stayed blue. It didn't do it all of the time, if the monitor has been turned off for a few minutes, it would start up fine, and stay on. If I turned on the computer and the monitor went 2 secs to black, i would just turn the monitor off and wait a few, and it would usually stay on after i tried again. That worked less and less frequently until it would never stay on more than 2 seconds. I can see the screen with a flashlight pointed at it. I have zero electronics know how, i didn't own a multimeter or a soldering iron before this, but i am a DIY kinda guy, so i googled it, and ended up here. From what I've read here, definitely sounds like an issue on the inverter board. I can't see any obvious damage, the caps appear fine, no bulging, no leaking, etc. I also don't see any discoloration around any of the components. Flipping it over, the i don't see anything obvious here either. Maybe someone notices something that might escape a mere noob such as myself? Any idea what the most likely culprit is? If it's relevant, I also noticed that I often got two secs to black whenever my resolution changed, like when loading a game, etc. Pics are attached, thanks to all in advance!

I notice a couple of things. first of all, you deserve a better camera. I agree, there are no signs of bulging caps, but that's no proof that they are all good.
In the 1st picture, about 7:00 o'clock there are a couple of caps with green sleeves. What brand are they?

What parts of the guide did you already try? It was written with newbies in mind in addition to people with some electronics knowledge.--- begin sig file ---
If you are new to this forum, we can help a lot more if you please post clear focused pictures (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) of your boards using the manage attachments button so they are hosted here. Information and picture clarity compositions should look like this post.
We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.

Re: Hannspree HF237HPB
I mostly understood the guide, but i guess my lack of electronics knowledge was a little limiting. I tested the fuse on the board successfully, appears to be fine, but can all the other components be tested in circuit? Is there any way to test the caps with just a multimeter, or does that require the ESR tester? Is my best bet just to start by replacing all the caps, regardless of appearance? Could i fit any more question marks into this post?
PlainBill, the greensleeved caps are Samxon, which appear to have a mixed following on this forum.
Also, any substitute for a desoldering pump or braid? i have not yet purchased any desoldering stuff and will likely have to wait a week or so to do so.
were the pics at least adequate or should i retake with a borrowed camera? (no macro setting on mine) thanks for the prompt responses!
