Samsung 193v 2sec-black issue

Got this from a client of mine last week, thought it was going to be an easy fix.. guess I was wrong..

It was made in 2003 so I kinda suspect that after 8 years perhaps the lamps are indeed kaput because when I cracked it open, there were no obvious bad caps.

But I did check all of the caps with ESR meter. All of the tall skinny ones were indeed bad as usual so they got replaced. I resoldered the pins of the transformer. Put it back together somewhat, turned it on still not working right.

The filter cap read 1 instead of 0.. is this a possible issue?

After I did some research here I think I goofed while doing the CCFL test.. I left the 3 other sockets empty and just used a single spare lamp.

Wanted to rule out everything else before I really tear this thing apart to get at the lamps.

Additional Info.. I plugged in a pair of spare lamps that are known to be good and I still get the 2second to black issue. I noticed that the lamps didn't come on right away.. took a bit of time for them to light up.. ( maybe 10 seconds if that).. scratching head now..

I have had mixed results testing with just one lamp plugged in ,I have even had monitors where the single lamp would light but it was still causing a sec to black problem.
The best way to test in my opinion, would be to use at least on good ccfl.

You will need lamps connected to all four connectors or you will get 'two seconds to black'.

What I thought the OP was describing was a way to find a totally failed ccfl.

Hi Bill.. guess I should have clarified. I installed 2 pairs of lamps so all 4 sockets were connected.. still had the 2 second to black issue.

What I meant and how it came out were two different things..

One thing that complicates the process is many monitors use a single secondary to drive two CCFLs. A single CCFL won't light with that design, you will need two.

Yes the spare lamps did light up.. although it wasn't right away.. my understanding is that they are supposed to light up immediately. It took them more than a few seconds. Is this normal?

Not only is it not normal, it is very unusual. We all know the variable nature of time (five seconds being kissed by Aunt Edna seems a lot longer than 5 seconds being kissed by third cousin Sally). I'd suggest you time the actual delay. I could accept a 1 or 2 second delay; longer indicates a problem.

Samsung Series 9 - BIOS issue

After installing Linux, I can no longer enter the BIOS of my Samsung Series 9 (NP900X3C) laptop. When pressing [F2] during boot I simply get a black screen. Same thing when pressing [F10] and choosing "Setup" from the "App Menu" tab. Apparently this is a relatively common issue with Samsung laptops of that generation, but unfortunately i haven't been able to resolve the issue (yet).

Things i've tried so far; reinstalled Windows 10, checked for redundant boot entries, tried to factory reset using the emergency keyhole, attempted to clear the NVRAM by physically...

Samsung DM32D – Red LED blinks 5 times, won’t start (possible mainboard issue)

Hello,

I have a Samsung DM32D display.
When I try to power it on, the red LED blinks 5 times and nothing happens—the unit won’t start.

Here’s what I have tried so far:
1. Disconnected the cable between the mainboard and the power supply → the backlight turns on.
2. Disconnected the main T-CON ribbon cable → same issue as before, the LED still blinks 5 times.
3. Disconnected one of the two T-CON ribbons to the panel (tested each one separately) → same issue, the LED blinks 5 times.
From these tests, I suspect the problem might be on the mainboard. Could anyone...

Samsung SyncMaster 740n Phase Control Issue

Hello,
I'm having an issue with the Samsung 740n's phase control setting. When I use the automatic adjustment, it sets the value to around 54 (with a range of 0-100), and the picture looks clear and sharp. However, after some time—like after playing a game—the text starts to look blurry. When I auto-adjust again, it may increase the value to 80, and everything becomes sharp once more. Yet, after a while, whether it's a few hours or a day later, the same blurriness returns, and I have to adjust it again.

I'm using the Samsung 740n monitor drivers instead of the default plug-and-play...

QE65Q800TATXXC Samsung TV Issue

Hello.

My TV is a QE65Q800TATXXC Samsung TV.

Issue : When you plug the 220V, voltages are OK on the power board and you can hear the click from the relay, but TV is not starting when power button is pressed. Red led is blinking when you press power button. But no images or sound ( Back-light is off )
Then if you disconnect the cable from the main board to the power supply, the TV back-light turns on.
Any ideas to check would be very appreciated 😊

After reading some posts on this forum, I suspect an eeprom issue so I bought a CH341A to dump...
