Hello, I have a faulty screen with an I8996c chip getting very hot, I would like to know what this chip is doing, so I request datasheet as I did not find anything online. Or schematic for NCPD-TS156-014 V1.0 board (screen model is LM156LFCL) would be also very helpful. Thank you in advance
Request datasheet for i8996c chip!

I have a very strange issue with the BIOS SPI chip of an ASRock B650M PRO RS motherboard.
The SPI chip is an Winbond 25Q256JWEQ model (1V8).
The motherbaord doas not POST - it lits only CPU and DRAM EZ Debug Leds, and stays that way forever.
The Flashback function of the motherbaord is also not working, despite all instructions followed correctly - I'm 100% sure of this.
I have then desoldered the chip, backupped the contents, and tried to earease the chip in order to program stock image, but the chip is locked by status registers SREG2 (TB) and SREG6... -

When replacing the screen of this MacBook model, the DP855A chip must be moved from the existing screen for the screen to operate properly.
However, when I removed the DP855A chip from the existing screen, I must have done something wrong and the chip broke.
Testing the chip pins with a multimeter revealed a short circuit inside the chip.
Is it impossible to repair this? I couldn't find a programmer for this chip, nor any eeprom programmer software....04-19-2024, 08:51 PM -
by mizuh0Hi all I hope im doing this correctly,
I need a firmware dump for the Nuvoton NCT6687D‑M controller (EC flash chip: W25X20CLNIG) used on the MSI B660M Mortar DDR4 (MS‑7D42, revision 1.1).
I acquired a ch341a black to reflash my bios, and was so excited to use it that I tested it on the W25X20CLNIG 3.3v chip as I didn't have the 1.8v yet for the bios chip itself.
Being a total newbie I straight up corrupted the EC flash chip, and now the power button does nothing, PS_ON# does not change, and when I manually short the PS_ON# pin it immediately turns off...-

by VcemPzdHello everyone !
My name is Chris, I am a 30 years old embedded software developer working in the automotive industry. I am really passionate about learning new skills and repairing/crafting stuff. I came around this forum last week with the goal of repairing my faulty gaming laptop, indeed, I was video editing on it when suddenly a black screen popped and never disappeared
I bought some stuff to try to repair it and learn as many things as possible about computer repairs but nothing worked so far. When the black screen appeared, my legion 5 pro was connected to my external monitor...

by TamFisheHi, I got a ThinkPad x1 carbon 6th gen from a friend after in an attempt to fix it he ended up bricking the motherboard. today i tried plugging the laptop to the wall and i got no signs of life, despite the connections being proper. i've found out this winbond 25q80dvsig chip under a label near the usb c ports and i gave it a read, and the output has massive chunks of 0000 0000 0000 0000 followed by FFFF FFFF FFFF FFFF and sometimes some proper values scattered across the whole chip. I've attached the file because I've read people request it in order to fix it. Moderators, if I've posted this...
