HP LP3065 monitor has developed vertical lines

    Hi all.

My much beloved and long serving monitor has slowly been developing a fault ever since I switched to Windows 7 and started "docking" two windows side by side using the Windows + arrow keys.

As you can see I've got the casing off (which was quite a struggle) but the thing very solidly built so some way to go to get at the panel which I presume is where the problem lies.

Any idea if this fixable or shall I put it on menial duties at my office?

    Thanks,

    Nick

Re: HP LP3065 monitor has developed vertical lines

Looks like a panel COB or tab bonds failure to me. Though it is interesting that the failure appears to be right in the middle of the monitor. I don't remember anymore if that meant anything or not.

That said, I'm more inclined to think this is probably not repairable. Before giving up, though, you can try to take the monitor apart to expose where the flex cables from the Tcon are joined with the TFT panel. Once there, apply a little pressure on the tab bonds to see if that will fix the image. If yes, consider placing something to keep pressure on the tab bonds there. This will likely be a temporary fix... but who knows how long it may last "temporarily" .
If this doesn't do it, then it might be a COB bond issue (the little ICs attached to the flex cable between the T-con board and the TFT itself.) I'm sure someone has done a fix for even those, but I suspect the fix requires tools and knowledge that is beyond what most people are willing to get to just fix a single monitor.

      Screen Display Vertical Multicolor Lines
      by Stanley1843
Hello, I have a screen in where sometimes when I open it pop-up vertical multicolor lines (I would say the most of them are green). If I tun off and turn on the screen the lines dissapear or if I leave open the screen after approximately five minutes the lines gone. I measured the below voltages on the main PCB and on the T-CON board and the voltages are the same when it doesn’t display the vertical lines and when it displays the vertical lines. Also, I cleaned all the connectors very good with IPA. I moved back and forth the connectors and the COF tabs but the vertical lines didn't displayed...

HannStar Hanns-G HC194d LCD monitor repair
      by momaka
Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...

Colorful LCD Vertical Lines on Samsung ue55es8090
      by Falki
Hello there, ive recently found an older 55inch Samsung SmartTV.
Sadly it has vertical lines at the left and one line in the middle-right.

I have already tested out the connections and have looked at the soldered ribbons of the LCD panel to see if some contacts got loose by pushing them a bit but with no success.
I have factory resetted the TV as well but also with no luck.

I am afraid that it is indeed a LCD Panel issue but there are NO scratches or any impact-marks..

A similar issue has been posted as well but also with no actual response ...

Samsung Curved monitor C27FG70FQU with garbled vertical lines on startup
      by jackster
I acquired a faulty curved Samsung C27FG70FQU which has the quite common problem of just showing weird vertical lines for a while after a cold boot.

The issue is pretty bad with this one and it takes about 15 minutes before things normalize and a proper image is displayed. Once a proper image is shown it will work 100% until the display is shut down or put in standby for a while and allowed to cool for a bit.

Even though this seems to be a quite common issue I haven't really found any information regarding what the root cause is and how to fix it. There is this video...
