    Sony CMT-HX80R HCD-HX80R stand-by led blinking

This "not-so-old" (2008) nice Sony stereo system had the quite common issue with the PS in protection mode: the usual blinking of the red stand-by led.
PS itself was fine but there was a short on the +7 V line. After a while I found the C702 be the reason for the short: it's a 470uF 10V FOAI electrolytic capacitor (oddly enough that my MESR-100 meter didn't provide a notice for the shorted components).
I replaced that faulty one but the issue was still there!
So I checked the other 3 identical capacitors on the main board and I found another one shorted on the +9V line, the C508.
To be on the safe side I replaced all the 4 of them and the issue was fixed.

Sony Bravia 55HX820 - 4 times blinking red standby led
      by androripara
      Hello everyone,
i am trying to repair a Sony KDL-55HX820 led TV which is throwing error code 4 (standby led flashing four times).

I followed the troubleshooting flowchart at page 69, and between pin1 and pin7 of CN6002 i am reading 1.91V so i guess i can rule out the B Board as the culprit.
Before ordering new G* Boards (by the way, should i change both? it is not specified in the manual) i wanted to try and do more advanced troubleshooting since i've read in other threads people resolving their problems on the 46/55 HX 820/823/825 models by replacing the Samsung led...

      Sony KD-65XE8596 no standby light
      by brithepi2k
      Hi,

I’ve got a Sony KD-65XE8596 here that has no standby light coming on. I’ve tested the power board with the test meter, the TV needs 3.4 for the standby but only getting 2.4. Anything that I can change/check on the board to get it working? Pictures of the board are included.

      cheers...

Sony Bravia KDL-70W850B T-CON board / software update issue
      by eclectric
Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me with this issue before I give up on this TV.

In short, I replaced the T-CON board due to an error code indicating that was the problem, after which it flashed a green and orange LED meaning software update required. I cannot get the tv to do the required update via USB, so I am stuck.

Here is a rundown of the symptoms and the steps I have taken to troubleshoot:

I inherited the TV with the symptom that it would turn on, then turn off after 5-10 seconds and a red LED flashed 4 or 5 times. Sometimes it would be 4, sometimes...

Sony SLV-E780 Power Supply Issue – Clicking Sound, Need Help Identifying Faulty Component
      by Akuanka
      Hi everyone,

I'm troubleshooting a power supply issue with a Sony SLV-E780 VCR. The device clicks repeatedly but doesn't power up completely. I've already replaced five capacitors, but the problem persists.

Here's a video link https://photos.app.goo.gl/3Xki6yvCLn67gLX78 showcasing the sound. Based on your experience, could this be due to a transformer, diode, or another component? Any guidance on what to test or replace next would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help!
