Bose Professional 1800 Power Amp Help

    Hi All,

I'm trying to fix this 40+ year old power amplifier which works but has a couple of issues:

When powered up without an input signal and the volume pots set to zero there is a noticeable high frequency interference coming through the speaker outputs. If I switch off the amplifier the interference disappears. The massive smoothing caps (14,000uF/100V) continue to power the amp for some time after the power is cut. I've attached the service manual, some oscilloscope screen dumps of the speaker outputs with the power on & off.

Any pointers would be most welcome.

    Thanks.

there appears to be some difference between the two channels if I understand the display. since it is on both to a degree, check the voltages on both rails both for the dc value and then with a scope to see what any "ripple" looks like. Feed in a 1khz wave and follow it into the input stage and compare before and after the op amp stage.

          Mercedes-Benz W163 Bose Audio System

          Howdy everyone!

I have a SUV with a Bose audio system and I'm considering either a system upgrade, or purchasing a complete replacement system while bypassing the integrated Bose system.

On the Bose side, I have not found any specifications yet. It's a decent system but I'm, at a minimum, replacing all the factory speakers, head unit and adding an amp and two 8" subs. The Bose is a 2ohm system and I'm not certain about this point. In order to use a 4ohm set of speakers (component/loud), I would need to install 2 sets of 4ohm speakers wired in parallel to match the...

bose soundlink color 2 strange behavior
          by Steadily7-Colossal0
My dad gave me his bose soundlink color 2, claiming that the charging port was loose. I opened it up, plugged it in, probed around with a multimeter, and I can measure 5V all over the board. I wiggle the charging cable around, no change. The port looks fine: sturdy, clean contacts. I measure across the battery wires and I get 0V, so I assumed the battery was the problem. But then a few minutes later after I disconnected and re-connected the daughter board with the buttons, lights were flashing and I was reading 3.3V across the battery wires. The only logical explanation for this I could come up...

          Bose Lifestyle 650 remote malfunction
          by mpa2
          Hi everyone,

I'm trying to fix this RF Bose remote (model nr. 420129) for a friend. After applying supply voltage the display shows the Bose logo, after a short period of time it goes dark and the MCU enters a sleep mode. It wakes up after a key is pressed, the display remains dark all the time after the start up sequence.

Sometimes it can still be paired with the main unit and you can control it for a short period of time, then the unit stops reacting again.

The pcb is clean, there are no signs of corrosion. The voltages look adequate.

          I read...

Hello, I have a problem recognizing the elements marked with blue dots, unfortunately BOSE does not provide any boardview. What could it be? Foil capacitors?

          BOSE board number: 283394-001

Bose soundtouch 30 no power on
          by crigab
Hi guys, I have a Bose Soundtouch 30 to repair and I am stuck. I have 320V from the PSU to the mainboard, 24V on the amplifier, 5V and 3.2V, but pushing the power button, It is not powering on. I found a chip that it is heating when i plug the speaker in the outlet, but i can not find anything about the chip - C4E smd 8pin chip. It is anyone with some experience on this type of Bose to help me with some ways to find the problem? Thanks
