    Onkyo tx-sr577 just some questions

So i have HK avr 230 as backup (very good condition didnt even look at its bias)

But my main is TX-sr577 im using it as stereo amp.
Wierd thin when i looked inside i saw 2 main transistors had cut middle legs and when you set it to 6+ ohms its gets hot like crazy

For me its ok i need stereo with 4ohms (cantons) yet im curious.

Some while ago it started going into protect - debug said V so over voltage.

Q1: do you set bias in 4 or 6 ohm mode (i guess thats 2 transformer modes for this biach)

Q2: it was shutting donw as overvolt when i was using spdif as source (DSP?)

Q3: does any 1 love me?

Running out of Ideas, hoping someone smart can provide some for my ONKYO TX-SR353 Receiver
      by CDNBrewer
      Hello Everyone,

I have an Onkyo TX-SR353 Audio/Video Receiver (5.1 ch with HDMI) that I am having a really hard time diagnosing and I'm about to throw this in the junk and go buy a new unit that is on sale until the 7th.

      Symptoms:
      • Intermittent (part of the reason why i'm having a hard time isolating problem), sometimes will work for 10+h at a time without issue
      • Original symptom was wife reported loud banging noise (like someone was banging on the wall with their fists) from the LEFT SURROUND speaker and then the unit shut off.
      • I swapped the Left and Right surround

Onkyo HT-R390 no sound output, video output ok
      by FrancescoV
      Good morning everyone,
I'm trying to repair an onkyo ht-r390 that has no sound output, despite the volume being at maximum, the rest seems to work; the video output signal (coming from an hdmi input) is present, but the audio is absent. Similar situation if I send an audio signal from any input I have no output.

The firmware reported is the following:
      M:1.00/11107BLP
      D:?.??/????????
      O:1.00/11107AL

The DSP firmware given the question marks seems corrupt.

On the BCHDM-0678 - 25140678 - QPWBCHDM0678A0 board the chip that usually seems...

Luxman R-5045 - Cant adjust current bias
      by mikkele86
      Hello good people of badcaps.

      im back with another question

Im trying adjust the current bias accordingly to the manual, but my meter is showing the same value no matter whatever position VR-804a/VR-804b is in.

DC bias is adjusted and is working as intended.

Is my settings on the multimeter wrong ? or should i look for a bad component

      note: all transistor are new

      Picture from manual

      My measurements

Onkyo-593 No power and now clicking sound
      by Sisko
      Hi all!!

Ok just got a Onkyo SKW-593 sub woofer that has no power person told me that it smoked and that his GF let the volume full when she powered off the amp and when he came to turn it on the sub played but then suddenly smoke was coming out, didn't say from where. So opened it up and saw a resistor made of metal (pic) but can't see any writing on metal par so what ever was written on it was burnt. So I'm kinda stuck here with this. I did ask for a repair or schematics in the other group section and waiting for this but I hope someone here might lend me a hand to try and identify...
