    Sony MDR-DS6500 headphone repair

    Hello experts,

I have a Sony MDR-DS6500 headphone. It is charging, the charging stops when charged up, but it does not turn on, there is no life sign if pressing the on/off button.

Battery replacement is already done, the problem still exists.

First of all I would be happy if I could get a service manual for this, maybe from anyone who has access to Sony service manuals.

Second I would be glad If you could give me advices where to start searching the fault.

I have already made some investigations:
    • Battery is OK
    • Battery connection is goes straigth from left earphone (battery board) to right, there is 3,7v at output of this board.
    • There is 3.7v where battery board connects to the main board where the ON OFF switch is
    • ON OFF switch is switching as it should, and there is 3,7v voltage
    • There is a green wire from battery board to main board says "PG". Should be anything there? There is no voltage. What is this?

    Thank you!

At first look the wire strands from Batt+ might be shorting to PG which could be Power Ground (it does go to ground, correct?). Check the 000 (0Ω) jumper resistor. What are the markings on IC103?

Hello, and thank you for the helping hand!

That red wire is my power injenction, i have already made it better looking, but there was no short... Funfact If I press the power on button, then a peak of voltage (just for 1-2sec) represents on green connection (PG) 1 V. If I hold the button pressed, it disappears, but if I pressing agai and again then I can like pumpping it.... Is this normal?

IC103 is TK63101SCL-G SOT23-5 mosfet. At that mosfet I have the voltage at the track where the resistor is (same as battery + voltage, 4,2V) and from there, there is nothing. If I push the button, then 2.6 V voltage represents at upper left leg on the picture, but it disappears when I release power button. Also when the button is pressen, the third pin to right I can measure 3,6 Volts.

I have made a drawing. The YELOW only measurable when I press again and again the button, as I said before. The ORANGE voltage only measurable when hold the on off button, and the red is measurable always.

On some power supplies PG stands for Power Good. so that might be a line to tell something else that the voltage is good. I could not see where it went in the original picture, it looked like it went to ground, but now I see it is on its own.

IDK how I missed that but there is a short circuit from the outout of that mosfet ritght to the VM pin of IC102. How could I identify what is shorted there? Simply measuring the capacitors is not right for obvious reason. But how then?

The short is gone there, I put out caps and one of them was faulty I guess. But the problem is still it does not turn on
