RCA Sound Bar RTS7010B not turning on

Hello.

Would you help me find out what is wrong with this RCA RTS7010B sound bar?

It does absolutely nothing when connected to the power supply, no LEDs, completely dead.

I cannot find the schematics online to know if it uses a fuse.

Power adapter is working fine, already tested that, the jack connector works too, not broken or loose.

I would start checking Voltages between the two legs of those electrolytics caps to see what Voltages they have. I would also check the Voltages of IC501.

So the input DC gets all the way to the regulator IC501. What is the P/N as printed on the body of IC501?
And how about the Voltage on that big black cap?

The big black cap reading is 12.7v

That AMS1117 Adjustable LDO is bad, the Voltage drops between pin 1 (ADJ) and the pin 2 (Out) should be 1.25V which is the internal Vref, right now per your measurement it has 6.8V - 4.2V = 2.6V so that is bad, I expect the out put to be 5V.

At this point you should replace the regulator to get the correct Voltage back first then go from there, hopefully that the 6.8V output did not damage the circuit.

I would like to apologize for my inactivity in this thread. Many events happened at home that prevented me to even remotely make an attempt to continue trying to fix this sound bar or any other electronics related task.

After being able to buy a few basic new tools and a multimeter again, I replaced the AMS1117-ADJ | H1518 voltage regulator.

The new IC gets hot really fast after applying voltage to the board (same behavior before being replaced)

Voltage in PIN 1 is now 11.6v and 4.4v-4.5v in PIN 2.

None of the capacitors surrounding this IC are giving shorted reading.

I will understand if this long forgotten thread no longer receives any responses.
