Yamaha Electric Piano CLP550 ROM Codes

If you have a Yamaha CLP550 which has seemingly stopped working for no reason, we have the solution for you after many good people worked together to recover the ROM code that becomes corrupted or lost after many years of service.

This thread tells the story of the journey: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=36535

If you want the good ROM code for the three memory ROMs that generate the piano tones, then go to Post #114. Tested and good ROM code.

The technology of the original ROM chips was at the very edge of the silicon density for the time. After many years the internals of the ROMs fail. Replacing with reprogrammed (cheap) FLASH ROM gets the piano back in business.

Congratulations to all the people who worked on this project.

Re: Yamaha Electric Piano CLP550 ROM Codes

if the CLP's are like the PSR's then you can probably put them in testmode and they will check the roms and give you the version numbers!
hold C2#, F2 and G2# while you turn the power on.
if it says "test" you can step the test with +/- and run it with star/stop

        Electric Keyboard Piano No Sound
        by ksotoszx
Hi all, this is my first post on this forum, i will need the help of someone who knows in order to repair the old Electric Keyboard Piano that was given to me.
It is a gold star brand, model gek s350. It lights up normally, everything seems to work but it has no sound. Neither from the keys nor from the ready melodies.
-I haven't forgotten a plug in the headphones.
-The capacitor that I touch with my finger (in the picture) has no resistance, as I measured with the multimeter, but I don't know if that's the reason.
Before i attempt something on my own and possibly destroy...

Yamaha psr ew400 piano loses sound
        by laidman
Yamaha PSR EW400 piano intermittently loses sound and shuts down.

Youtube people recommend verifying that the DC jack's solder connections aren't broken, and the replacement of a couple of capacitors in the vicinity of the DC jack. While these solutions might work, I'd feel a lot more secure if I had a schematic to help me check the status of the myriad components.

        Schematic and suggestions are welcome.

Electric piano distorted notes (Roland RD100)
        by Dannyx
Good day folks. Today, I came across something kinda special, which I haven't worked on before: a Roland RD100 electric piano. It was just sitting there in the shop covered in dust, no doubt having been ravaged and then abandoned by my oh-so-skilled co-worker. I actually remember seeing him struggling with this thing and I recall briefly witnessing the problem too: some of the notes play distorted. I'll try plugging it myself and maybe do some captures for you to hear for yourselves, but let's just say it sounds....bad.

I haven't actually dug into it myself yet, so this is mostly...

Yamaha P105 digital piano - no standby / no power
        by beetle1303
        Hi,
I received this Yamaha P105 digital piano completed dead - no power and no standby lights. Pressing the power button does nothing.
I have checked the power adapter has 15V output to the piano. I opened up the keyboard, and did some basic checks, and there is 15V input to the power supply board. But that is apparently no power feed into the main board that connects to the power switch button.

Attached is the pictures of the PCBs, and the service manual I downloaded.

I need help to get guide me where to start tracing for problem(s).
        Thank...

Help Needed: Yamaha RX-V485 Network Issue After Firmware Update (WN9711 Error)

        Hi everyone,

I'm facing an issue with my Yamaha RX-V485 receiver. During a firmware update, the process failed, and now the USB, Bluetooth, and network functionalities are not working. Occasionally, the receiver displays the error code WN9711.

I came across Yamaha Technical Bulletin No. 0103, which describes a similar issue for models like the RX-V4A, RX-V6A, and RX-A2A. According to the bulletin, the issue can be resolved by shorting soldering points (e.g., J260 for RX-V4A or...
