Re: Another Yamaha
Update.
Looks like she's back to her old self again, everything is working as it should, watched a couple of movies, no issues, does seem to be a tad warmer than I remember, maybe it's just me being paranoid lol.
Anyway, want to say thank you again to R_J for his time and help and everyone else who also joined in.Leave a comment:

Re: Another Yamaha
Thats likely how it works, standby led lit in standby, turns off when amp is on.Leave a comment:

Re: Another Yamaha
Firmware is already 1.80
Just turned the amp off, red standby light is now on lol ??Leave a comment:

Re: Another Yamaha
Try doing a full reset, if that does'nt help check the firmware version, I see there is a firmware update to ver. 1.80Leave a comment:

Re: Another Yamaha
I'll test that tomorrow, but for now it seems to be ok, it's working at least.
One other issue I noticed is that when I press 'sur decode' it goes into 'straight' mode when it should go into 'neo' modeLeave a comment:

Re: Another Yamaha
The standby led supply voltage is the +3.3M It can be tested on operation board plug CB473 (page 136) There is also the control line from the main microprocessor ic which is the pin next to it, it should change when the amp goes from operate to standbyLeave a comment:

Re: Another Yamaha
It's not a 'protect' error, it's the reading from the hidden menu
Amp is hooked up and working so far thoughLeave a comment:

Re: Another Yamaha
Dry joint on regulator :/
I now have -12v -18v 0v on regulator
-18v and -19.7v on resistorLast edited by No1baggiesfan; 02-13-2019, 03:55 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: Another Yamaha
20.9v on both side of the resistor tells me you ripped the trace replacing the regulator.
R1238 is 10Ω Wher did you come up with .22Ω ????
Please look at the schematic the resistor connects DIRECTLY to the INPUT of the regulator.
If you have 20.9 volts on one side of a piece of wire and 0 on the other side, where would you look for the problem.Last edited by R_J; 02-13-2019, 03:43 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: Another Yamaha
R1238 reading 9.9 ohms
20.9v on both sides
Shouldn't it be 0.22ohm ?Leave a comment:

Re: Another Yamaha
0.6v on input
0.9 across c1088

by SinnyoneHi all,
This is a repost since I never completed this fix. I just left it, but now the receiver powers off into safe mode and does not complete the Self-Diagnostic when i start with those buttons pushed. It says it is, but does not do the diagnostics and does not show any faults or that it has none, which it should do. So here i am again. The previous post did have a schematic but I think it was cut off somewhere. I do not know what board it is referring to. Any help would be appreciated.
I have searched through the forums and have not found anything about my problem. So,...-

by nzphilI have a Yamaha YST-C10 mini-stereo that was made around 1990. It has two cassette decks, a CD player and an AM/FM tuner. When it is turned on in tuner mode, the cassette deck capstans normally run for about one second and then the radio will begin to play. Currently, however, the capstans run continuously for about five minutes followed by running intermittently in two second bursts for another five minutes. The radio will play softly when the capstans stop during the intermittent phase. After about 10 minutes of this, the capstans stop completely and all the stereo functions work fine.

Help Needed: Yamaha RX-V485 Network Issue After Firmware Update (WN9711 Error)
Hi everyone,
I'm facing an issue with my Yamaha RX-V485 receiver. During a firmware update, the process failed, and now the USB, Bluetooth, and network functionalities are not working. Occasionally, the receiver displays the error code WN9711.
I came across Yamaha Technical Bulletin No. 0103, which describes a similar issue for models like the RX-V4A, RX-V6A, and RX-A2A. According to the bulletin, the issue can be resolved by shorting soldering points (e.g., J260 for RX-V4A or...-

by jjneI have an old Yamaha RX V675 receiver which is starting to develop issues with the sound, although it doesn't quite match up with what folk normally report with these.
From cold, the sound cuts in and out. When this happens the amp is losing sync with the optical input (speaker graphic disappears from the front panel). But this is not resolved by putting the unit into pure direct mode. After a couple of minutes this resolves, although there are occasional clicks from the speakers after that.
At first I thought it was either a speaker relay or the DSP, but I don't think...-
