    Bluetooth Receiver

I am making a portable bluetooth box and would like to add bluetooth capability. the simplest way is something like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wireless-USB...UAAOSw1DtXDbZf

but the thing is not good enough and does not have external antenna capability, which is very much preferred as the box is metal and it reduces the 30' range down to < 3'. besides the 30' range isnt quite enough to begin with. i'd say 100' open air would be good (allows 30' beyond 2 walls).

So basically i'm asking if anyone has seen a bluetooth audio receiver that is capable of locating it's antenna outside of the metal case.

p.s. found a possible candidate, if it can be used without complex external circuitry, http://www.elecfreaks.com/store/ultr...04l-p-543.html (hits budget limit)

If you check this thread on EEVblog you'll see someone has added an external antenna to a bluetooth dongle similar to yours.

thanks for the link. i've tried to add an antenna to an fm transmitter like this and came up with nothing.

it looks like he just added the antenna right where it starts, but doesnt remove the pcb antenna? and will it matter if the antenna is a single floppy bit of wire, or should i try to use one from an old laptop, of which i have a few.

i was thinking maybe mounting an sma connector to the metal case and using a wifi antenna, would this work well?
