Re: Yamaha RX-A720
Look i fix an RX-V1500 the problem was dc on output. When you push the speaker A-B was putting a noise and the volume goes down.
the problem was the 5,2v on C586 C587 the R644 D503,D504,D505 and on R650 on pin 139 of the CPU ic520.(control of relays)
Also if the relays open close (after first load) i know that i have cold joint especially on the output connectors.
Keep in mind that the volume control on this units are very sensitive on dust also the hdmi cables on this reciever use a return audio path to monitor the sound so check cables also or use the AV output.
Next suspect is the preamp voltages and the HDMI circuit.
Also sometimes the problem is from main power rail 2 polyesteric capasitors but then you have also display problems.
The good news is that the unit dont go to protect mode.Last edited by charis; 04-13-2016, 03:29 AM. -
Re: Yamaha RX-A720
Ok.
First start by cleaning the switches and the volume control.
After that check all the ribbon cables to have good contact.
Then check if the output to speaker terminals is steady if not resolder them and cleaned.
Try a spare cable to speakers.
Make a visual inspection and take photos.See if you smell something or you have discoloration at any part and pcb.
Now try all the channels if have output(and the surrounds).
Next step check if you have good sound on headphones jack.
Reset the unit or go to previous software(or update).
Try to use a spare speaker to test the output channels.
If you do all this you complete the first part of troubleshoting.Comment

Re: Yamaha RX-A720
We are jumping ahead too quickly. Does this mean speaker outputs? Is the unit intermittent on preamp out?It appears to cut sound on any device connected to it with HDMI or Optical. Is it plugged in?Comment

Please check the link above. It's exact problem I have. It has problem decoding the signal. While watching the screen from link above all inputs in the right side will disappear while sound is gone and all output speakers will turn off ( white color) when sound cuts off. When sound is ok you get all output speakers color turn yellow and inputs on the right side shows up.Comment

Re: Yamaha RX-A720
From your problem description, nobody would have come up with a Dolby decoder malfunction. How about starting with what actually DOES work, to eliminate all the usual suspects?
The link says "broadcast Dolby". Is that correct? Are we dealing with the usual problems associated with low signal level? When the display switches over to a blank -------, it indicates that there is nothing to decode, or the level is too low to detect. One idea would be to switch to a known good Dolby source and note the results. Is it plugged in?Comment

I have an old YAMAHA CLP-550 without sound. (Some times I can get some kind of noise or distorted sound)
I have replaced all green marked elements, but it gave me nothing.
The IC12 chip LC9116A-105 (red marked) remains under suspicion yet.
But it is custom YAMAHA's chip, and I can't find any information about it.
Maybe somebody came across with the same issue?
Any information will be very useful. I will be very appreciated.
Thank you....-

by maleksaMy Yamaha MOX8 synthesizer recently developed two issues.
Firstly, after booting up, it operates as normal. However, after about 5 minutes, the sound starts to get distorted (broken up screeching sound) almost like putting it through a guitar distortion pedal. After a while, the distorted sounds will go away for a while and comes back. At times, the synthesizer will also freeze I need to power off and on again.
Secondly, when powering off and on again, there will be times where the synthesizer will freeze during the boot sequence (freezes at the MOX8 Opening Screen),...-

by daigsHi,
I need to repair a P-115 yamaha digital piano with a strange behaviour.
When I power on the piano from the dedicated on/off switch, the power led go to ON (red led), but the keyboard doesn't produce any sound, nor in the speakers nor in the headphones.
When I try to power off (pressing the switch for at least 1 second), the keyboard doesn't power off, the red led remains ON. I need to unplug the adapter cable to switch off the keyboard.
I checked the 12V voltage rail on the input PCB, after the power plug and it is OK.
I checked also the...-

by LEECH666Good day ladies and gentleman!
I am currently trying to repair a Grundig Vision 9 37 9880 T USB LCD TV for a friend that has a weird audio problem. Basically everything works fine except for the heavily distorted sound when the Subwoofer module is connected and there is a buzzing sound coming from the PSU PCB.
This seems to be a rather rare TV so there is not much prior on topic help to be found however a service manual is available at the usual sources (Electro Tanya i.e.).
I think the PSU buzzing comes from one of the coils near the bridge rectifier but... - Loading...
