Hello, I have a Harman Kardon AVR 1700, and the HDMI ports have seemingly stopped working. The analog inputs still work fine. I downloaded a service manual for it, but the trouble shooting section really doesn't address this at all. I do have a DMM, but don't really know where to start. I'm thinking maybe the whole HDMI board may be dead, but i would like to confirm that before I get a replacement board for it. Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: HK AVR 1700 No audio or video through HDMI ports
Could be benign as an open filter starving a critical voltage but more likely a bga failure. Try heating the board thoroughly with a hair dryer to see if that changes anything. Then try hitting the dsp ic with a heat gun (not a reflow unless your sure that's the problem) if the first test fails

... Or, even simpler, dead caps on the power supplies? Some series of Onkyo receivers had this "disease" - quick recap of the HDMI board fixes the issueKhron's Cave - Electronics - Audio - Teardowns - Mods - Repairs - Projects - Music - Rants - Shenanigans

Re: HK AVR 1700 No audio or video through HDMI ports
Not sure on your particular model but on my hk avr 255 there was a official mod done by service centre to sort out hdmi issues. It involved putting in higher rated fuses and a bridge cable from the hdmi board.
