BMW OEM Amplifier 9 264 953 – Help Identifying Missing SMD Component

    Hi all,

    I'm currently working on a BMW OEM amplifier, part number 9 264 953, taken from a 2011 BMW F10 535i.
There's visible PCB damage near the NXP 74HCT193 chip, where a small SMD component is missing or burned. Based on shape and size, it's most likely a ceramic capacitor or resistor in 0603 package.

I recovered the loose component (appears unmarked, like a ceramic cap) and have detailed photos:

    – PCB with missing part
    – Close-up of recovered component
    – Full view of the board

    I'm looking for:
    - The correct part type (capacitor or resistor)
    - Value (if known)
    - Help from anyone who has a matching board or schematic

    Thanks a lot in advance!

The damage is on the VCC pin. So the black burnt looking SMD can't be some higher ohm resistor, rather a jumper or a ferrite beed etc. Looks like the damage went also to the D0 dataline and MR master reset pin. Check that small MLCC cap above that burnt black thing to see if there is a short or not. You may need a new 74HCT193 too.

Thanks a lot CapLeaker for the detailed explanation – much appreciated.

Your analysis makes a lot of sense. The damaged area is indeed on the Vcc trace, and the missing component looks like it could have been a ferrite bead or jumper.

To add more context: the amplifier produces sudden, loud "pops" or "bursts" in all speakers at once. Sometimes this is accompanied by high-pitched whining or squealing, and then it goes quiet again – only to repeat randomly. These are not soft clicks – they are full-volume spikes, as if some power rail or logic state violently flips.

There are no signs of damage in the output stage itself. It's as if the digital control logic glitches and sends full signal bursts to the output stage for a split second.

Would you say this behavior is more likely caused by unstable logic Vcc, or could a faulty 74HCT193 chip itself generate these erratic outputs even if Vcc seems OK?

Any additional thoughts would be extremely helpful – thanks again!

The 74hct193 is nothing more than a digital synchronous counter that can count up and down. My best guess it is used in this amplifier for gain / volume control or digital gain control… something along this line. Maybe balance too

Most likely, moisture got into this area or electrolyte leaked from the back side, if it is there, this power supply chain of this chip is a blocking ceramic capacitor, a choke and again a ceramic capacitor, wash this area with a toothbrush soaked in isopropyl alcohol, a little lower also on the terminals of one oxidation controller...

Help with identifying missing resistors on 820-02918 A2992 board
            by bjh06
Hello, I have a A2992 board in which has some damage to the rear and a number of missing components. Does anybody have a good photo of this area, and could help identify the missing resistors.

            Thanks...

PS5 Edm-010 No Power - Help identifying missing capacitor
            by krob80
Hey everyone. I recently acquired a PS5 that is not turning on (no beep/power). PSU is good and there is no shorting on the 12V rail.
It came with a Gen3 SSD installed so I feel that things went down hill for the previous owner when it was installed. F7003 was blown but there was nothing shorting to ground. I replaced the fuse but still no power (new fuse is still good for now).
When connecting it to a bench power supply, it only pulls 10 mA (doesn't spike when first connected).
I noticed that there are a couple capacitors missing from the Vcore power regulator (pictures attached)....

            820-02020 PPBUS_AON missing
            by ugamazing
Board had no history of liquid; unsure of drop history, but no signs of damage of any kind worth noting.

Charger sitting at 5v/0a. PPBUS is at 1.9v-0.9v steady cycle (peaks, drains, loops). Confirmed CHGR_EN_MVR is missing, but DCIN was reaching ISL just fine, so replaced ISL--no change at all. Confirmed pp3v8_aon is also missing--and being unsure *exactly* which signal appears first (or if they are simultaneous), I inspected PMU/U8100 area and found no shorts, but also found PP3V8_AON_MPMU_ISNS_VIN missing (not shorted). Replaced U8100 just in case (have had them fail in weird ways),...

hi guys hope im in the right place for this topic... recently bought a used macbook pro 2012 and after doing a thermal repaste the power button will not work. however if i disconnect the battery it will power up from the charger and appears to work fine... ive searched on the board and i have found what appears to be 2 missing components R5710 and c5710
must have snagged them when i was struggling with the keyboard ribbon.
can anyone tell me what these are ie: capacitors, resistors and where i can get them from and how the hell to solder these flea size components back.. lol...

Need help identifying the missing cap on the back of an i5 3570
            by TheKROCZ
Hey guys. I have an i5 3570 with a capacitor knocked off from the back of the cpu. I got it with a semi faulty mobo that I got for really cheap. The rest of the cpu is in a bad shape as well but its mainly cosmetic damages. I did try to run it and my test bench booted but the system never posted. It just got warm. My test bench did not crash either. It just kept running.

From the looks of it, I think the cpu can be revived by soldering on a new capacitor. However, no matter where I look online, I am unable to find any details about the capacitor or anything about the layout of those...
