Last week, i was fortunate enough to grab one of these babies off fleaBay, for roughly 100gbp (~120eu, ~150$). I had been "hunting" busted digital mixers for some time now, to "scavenge" the (100mm) motorfaders in them
I dream / plan of someday putting together a DIY DAW control surface, employing some bits & pieces from the MidiBox project ( www.ucapps.de ). Aaaaaaanyway...
Today, the UPS guy finally delivered the pretty big box. The listing said it had been partially disassembled but with all the screws included, and so it was. All of the screws had "escaped" from the ziploc they were in, but i didn't see any holes in the box that they could've slipped through, so i think none are lost.
Instinctively, without even giving it a second thought, i went all Dave Jones on it
(EEVblog, "Don't turn it on - take it apart!..")
All in all, a pretty decent piece of gear, i'd say. What i could notice were AKM ADC's (AK5383, i believe), four Analog Devices SHARC DSP chips, an AMD CPU (Elan SC300-33KC), TL062 and NJM4580L (SIP package) opamps on the input - hey, it's still a Behringer
Sure enough, even "only" through the ventilation slots in the PSU sub-casing, i could see bloated / vented caps. CapXon primaries, a whooooole bunch of Xunda on the secondaries, and a handful of further CapXons. This'll be quite a job, if only due to the sheer number of the lil' buggers
Not sure when i'll actually get around to recapping this sucker, got a LOT of stuff on my mind / hands these days, plus i'll have to check my stock of jap-caps. I might have to place another order with PCMCS on the aforementioned fleaBay
In the mean time, i snapped a couple shots (8MPx) of the relevant views - the underside of the "lid", the boards "inside" the casing itself, and the de-lidded PSU, in all its bloated & vented "glory"
