    Atoll ST200 Amp

Hi, A friend's streamer wend down after a lightening storm. It's dead. I haven't looked at it yet.
Obviously it's probably the PSU but I'd like to get some pointers before I go at it as it's an expensive piece of kit.

I'm not familiar with the damage lightening can do so any pointers would be gratefully received. Thanks...

I've had a look at this. Both the 5VDC and 3.3VDC are sitting on about 2VDC.
There's two L7805 regulators one has an output of 5VDC the other is very hot and has that 2VDC level on the output.

I'd like to cut the output leg of the L7805 next to see if it's being pulled low, but I can't get in at it. So I'd have to strip out the unit and remove it from the PCB.

My question is to ye experienced people, could the L7805 be blown or is it most likely being pulled low?
And if so, by what, given that this unit suffered from a lightening strike?

    Thanks!

I already posted this in the audio section but got no replies. So hopefully somebody with PSU knowledge can help me here.

Sony Bravia blinking red 7 times after lightening KDL-55DL-55EX720
      by thesteve
Hi. This is my second post. So far no signs of life on this message board.

I have a Sony KDL-55EX720 that works beautifully. But after an incident involving lightening, the set will shut down after a minute or so and flash red 7 times.

I have a donor main board to use to swap parts if necessary. I tried swapping the board completely, but so far have had limited success updating the firmware which turns out is mandatory.

Before I try any risky surface mount soldering, I thought I'd ask for advice.

      Thanks.

Lightening in yard..what’s the chances it’s just a power board?
      by BuggyMasters
Lightening struck my back yard and blasted pretty much every electronic device I have including my two Samsung plasmas. I happen to like those tv's. Anyone one have any experience with big power surges? I am wondering if it is worth replacing the power boards or is there a really good chance it took everything out past the power supplies as well. In both cases, there is no stand by light. Neither tv will do anything at all. I pulled the rear panels and the fuses are good.

      Thoughts?

Need pointers to knowledge sources for electromagnetic application
      by EasyGoing1
I'm a hobbyist when it comes to playing with circuits. I took a couple of years of electronics courses at the local junior college back in 1990 - 91. I've been a Network Engineer by trade pretty much my entire adult life, so my ability to engineer circuits is very basic in my opinion.

A couple of years ago, I made a magnetic stirrer using a motor from an old hand drill, a speed control circuit that I got from Amazon, and an iridium magnet bar that I fastened to ... something ... that was attached to the shaft of the motor (and I don't recall all of the specifics of how I managed to...

Bad DC offset on Onkyo TX NR414 - doesn't appear to be in the analogue section
      by jjne
I have a TX NR414, well I have two actually which are both exhibiting the same issue.

The one I've had since 2012 developed DC offset of around a volt under load on the front right speaker output. Not enough to trip the protection but enough to be noticeable in terms of sound quality. I checked the preamp board and couldnt see anything obvious. The offset is too high really to be a drift issue right?

I put the amplifier away for a while. I managed to pick up another example with a dead HDMI board very cheaply (common on these - mine was replaced by Onkyo several years...
