I am trying to trouble shoot this radio. When it is hooked up, the display comes on but the power and any of the other buttons will not work. Broke it down and found the ribbon cable looks like it might have gotten hot. Can anyone verify these two resisters are bad before I pull them? They look like they are toasted to me.

Re: Jensen Model Awm960
OK, I did not get a response on that one. So I pulled the resistors and on the big one I am getting 7.9 ohms and on the little one I get 3.2 ohms. Now I am trying to check the color codes to see if that is within tolerance. But it is hard to tell the colors. Can any one else please give me a input! -
Re: Jensen Model Awm960
I'm reasonably sure they're actually inductors
If you look carefully between the fatter one and that shielding "wall", you'll notice "L2 1mH" silkscreened in white, on the board, and i can barely make out something like "L3 10uH" between the fat one and the smaller one.
And they don't really look toasted to me, anyway. Looks more like they've had some epoxy or laquer applied on / between them, to keep them fixed (they're inductors, so their magnetic fields WILL interact, if they're in such close proximity).
That ribbon looks like it was MADE that way. If it got hot, all the traces wouldn't have and couldn't have warped quite like that. Plus there would be some darkening. That circular spot looks like it has some exposed copper - was it supposed to make contact with something, "on the way"?Khron's Cave - Electronics - Audio - Teardowns - Mods - Repairs - Projects - Music - Rants - ShenanigansComment

Re: Jensen Model Awm960
Here are some more pics. When I turn the radio on it will light up and shows clock and AM frequency but none of the buttons will work. It will not turn off or nothing. So maybe somebody can help me figure it out. I am going to put the chokes back in and do some more checking...Thanks.Comment

Re: Jensen Model Awm960
Can anyone give me some advice as to why no power to buttons or no power to the radio. I have tried to get the schematics for it but they won't release them.In the first pic., top right. I have 12 volts up to that point. Maybe someone can tell me what to check next...ThanksComment

Re: Jensen Model Awm960
Ae you getting 12V on both of these wires? Did it work before and it just quit?

Re: Jensen Model Awm960
I have went back and checked and yes I do have 12 Volts on those wires. It quit working when my brother had the radio in his camper. He sold the camper to my son. My son gave the radio to his sister-in-law to see what she could do with it. She cleaned the board and gave it back to him and it worked one day and then it quit again. It done the same thing.Comment

Re: Jensen Model Awm960
Might be a bad solder joint somewhere else... check voltage regulators, and stuff like that... you might find, say, a 5V rail that is too low.Muh-soggy-kneeComment

by edugimenoHi!!
Yesterday I was installing a new Wifi thermostat for my domestic gas water heater model Vaillant 242/2-3, and accidentlly one wire from mains touched one wire from the thermostat output contacts. This shut off the heater so I finished installing the thermostat and then went out to check the heater
I found one fuse blown (T2 250V). Replaced it with another equivalent fuse and it blew right away. I measured L-N in mains input and I sometimes got 4K but sometimes, not sure why, I got 100 Ohm...
At a certain point, moving stuff around, I put all wires back in place and... - Loading...
